All kinds of things will fit in there with enough money thrown at it.

I've been dreaming of putting a toyota diesel in my 1st gen for years. But in reality when the engine dies I'll most likely replace it with a remanufactured 3.4L just like the one that is in there. This will be the most straight forward approach.

Sorry to hear this by the way. Totally blows or sucks in this case.

While a great idea...something gets lost in translation when the price is $28,5k... possibly more. Pretty sure you can find a junk yard gem for around $3-5K with low miles to drop right in.

If your lucky maybe you can find a new tundra motor to drop in...BE THE FIRST!!

What do you mean by "fit" and how fat is your wallet? I believe there is at least one SBC and at least two 2JZs. Multiple 1UZs in previous generation Tacomas so I'm sure it will physically fit but the fueling and electronics are a whole different story. I assume you understand you'll have to use a new ECU and all the electronics troubleshooting that'll come with that.

Not sure how you plan on trying to warranty an engine you hydrolocked in a mud hole. Id say you have better chances surviving a plane crash and a bear attack in the same day, but GL. Have you removed the water from the cylinders and verified it’s actually toast? Hydrolock doesn’t automatically mean you bent the rods, etc…

It doesn't matter what you suggest, OP is probably 20 and will never go through with any of it. Educated guess is 22-23 to be exact and will likely sell the truck and get something else.
