Sorry, didn't mean to make you irritated
Rev range means something while doing actually wheeling.
I could build almost any Toyota truck motor with 400+hp and 400+torque, and still do it cheaper than swapping in any diesel and have a higher rev range, and way more common parts throught the drivetrain.
And yeah, the trucks arent cheap. But most people cheap out on almost everything they want done to their rig to improve them offroad.

I'll hit you up when I pass through California again, we can go out and I can see your diesel swapped rig, diesel Gladiator or similar rig, or your gas Tacoma you chose to get even though diesels are superior to you, and we can go out and hit some trails. :hattip:

I wonder if a 3.5 V6 engine from an other Toyota model will directly bolt into the Tacoma?

Isn't this engine in a Lotus in twin-turbo form? I'd get me one of those.

Pull the engine and take it apart. Then lose half the parts.
Strip the interior out and leave it in your back yard.
Sell all four wheels and buy four wheels that don't match and that have bald tires.

Do a video and send it to "Garage Squad."

Who is going to do the work? Ask them what you should do and what the ballpark budget (parts, labor and time necessary) is for options. I would look for a 2021-22 low mileage (whatever that means to you) wreck and swap in a low mileage motor. People post their wrecks all the time on here so they are available - just have to find that pipeline and shop to do the work. If you have stupid money then go do exactly what you want and create your dream rig.

I have had the opportunity to drive a Jap Spec Diesel Land Cruiser. I believe an 1990 or so. Bone stock taking that offroad, it was quite capable, put it in low range and first and pop the clutch. That thing would climb over anything with no need for throttle input or rev range. This is not possible with a stock gas pot vehicle, but it is with a stock diesel. You may be able to to get that gas pot to do it but you have to dump money into it that you don't have to with the diesel. The other thing with a diesel is the reliability, a well maintained diesel will out live almost any gas pot outside a slant 6 Dodge or a 300 6 Ford engine. And if you were to run out of fuel for some reason you can run them on engine oil or kerosene or fry oil... unfortunately diesel engine have a bad rap in North America and that can be traced back to the 350 Olds diesel failure... it made gas king here. This whole argument is mute though... because a new king is coming whether you like it or not, and that is the Electric motor.

With that... OP, go Electric... find a scrapped Tesla and figure out how to make the Electric drive system work.

Very famous off-road recovery YT channel had this topic covered and why he selects gas vs diesel in his off-road recovery business. IIRC, diesel has a narrow range to produce power..
Also, some diesel engines can run away in extreme conditions.

Keep it simple and keep it Toyota. 2JZ would be great. Inline 6 cylinder twin turbo is the sex.

Yeah, join up on the Rubicon or Fordyce in a couple months. Just hung out and ran a couple trails at Johnson Valley the other week. And my truck does just fine below 4k rpms, so let's run our rigs and stop bickering over this guys forum. I'll run any trail to "prove" my gasser.
