no modifications, just factory options applied
I received a display that blind-spot indicators weren't working..... is the problem a sensor failure ?

    Hi Mike,

I don’t know the answer to your question, as I don’t own a Tacoma with BSM.
I’m sure a member here with NSM can help you.

I just wanted to say, Welcome to TW!

It's impossible to know without some troubleshooting. It could be a failed sensor(s), a failed module, a bad harness or connection. The sensors and module are not cheap. Labor is a significant cost, as well, since it requires a not so simple calibration procedure to be done correctly. There was many '16 & '17 Tacomas with rear harness issues due to moisture intrusion that was addressed in a service campaign or similar. I don't think it was a recall, though. The wiring between the rear bsm sensors is part of the rear harness.

The rear bumper cover does, but it's not a 2 minute thing and it's off, there are clips and crap to deal with and the black plastic guard on top comes off first, then the bumper cover comes off.

Yup, best to use a forked tool but a flat blade screwdriver works to pop the plastic retainers out.
