Please be on the look out for issues with your blind spot monitor. This is a safety issue installed into my 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport , and shows in my door mirrors when vehicles are beside the truck.
These monitors (2) are located behind the rear bumper cap, on both sides, about the size of a pack of cigarettes, and are named master and slave. Mine just started working intermittently ,in and out, beep no beep.
Took off caps, cleaned as best I could, still no luck. Went to dealer, and was informed $2k can. total parts and labour to fix
    Ouch!
Please be on the look out fellow Tacoma owners.

I just turn my head to look.

Sorry, I don't trust the "safety" gadgets.

So far, my eyes and ears have never failed me nor have TSB or recalls on them.

Many times, I able to hear the tire noise from the thing in the blind spot, then I look to confirm. Developed this while motorcycle riding.

Wholeheartedly agree with you on those comments. Learned this on 2 wheels many moons ago. Always look to confirm.

It only takes a quick look to confirm. No need to identify what it is.

You don't really care if its semi, cement truck, miata, pickup......doesn't matter what it is. Just that its in the blind spot and you can't occupy that space without creating problems.

Wow seems pricy for the sensors. Mine work just fine, but I don't really notice them, I should remove and sell them :D I do like the backup and cross traffic alarm though, that is nice when trying to back-out from tight spots.

I experienced problems with mine as well but it ended up being a wiring issue. The bumper location seems to be a poor choice for the sensors. I know ram puts them in the taillights.

Well I guess now I am happy I didn't spend the extra cash to get Blindspot monitoring system. I've got that system installed on my company vehicle and the wife has it on her car, but to be honest I don't really ever depend on that system, I find myself doing a over the shoulder check just to be safe.

All these safety monitors are there to assist the driver not to replace the driver. They are there for the times we get careless.

It's not an "instead" system, it an "in case" system.

I have a 2016 with BSM. They didn’t work when I test drove, so as a contingency with my purchase they fixed and warrantied them. After 4 times bringing it in to 3 different dealers and recalibrating, they finally put in the updated sensors from the newer models. Haven’t had any issues since.
