Why the Hell is my right front marker light blinking when my left directional is on? Completely out of the blue. :( And suddenly the left directional will not work with the headlights on??!? The little blinky indicator thingie stays lit. Are the front markers (beside the headlamps) even supposed to blink? The ones under the bumper are working fine. Thanks in advance, my head now hurts and must go to bed.

Sounds like a ground issue might be a corroded socket.

A non flashing turn signal might be a bad bulb open circuit

Unless your lights have been modified the marker lights should not blink.

quite possible all these problems are caused by a trailer light converter box or left over alarm connections

Dual filament bulb is shorted inside. All you need is a new bulb. I would change both sides as they usually come in a package of two.

A classic example of what happens when you don't change your blinker fluid! :)

Nah, it's probably a corroded bulb socket.

Wrong truck. Unlike the 2nd gen, the first gen trucks don't have dual filament bulb in blinkers. The only filament bulb is stop/tail.

I would start with this perfect answer

Sounds like a ground issue, whether the grounding of the bulb and socket itself or a shared ground, etc.

Ok but why on Earth would the right front marker blink at all? Especially when the left directional is on? Which lamp socket would you start looking at first? To the best of my knowledge, with the exception of the headlamps, nothing has ever been messed with. Thank you

Possible left rear lamp grounding is not good. In 99 model the left lamp is grounded via one wire going first to the right lamp, and then from right goes to the ground point. When you turn the left blinker The left lamp not grounded will provide significant voltage to illumination circuit (via tail bulb). That will lit the front markers because they are low wattage bulbs. If this is the case all funny things can happen. For example when you step on brakes the front markers might lit as well. And if you shut down the engine, take the key out of ignition, open the door and then step on brakes, the buzzer might sound. Same with hazard lights.

I had a "leak" in bad LED bulb from stop light to tail light - I was puzzled when I saw the LED front markers lighting up when I stepped on brake and door buzzer would sound when I open the door holding the brake pedal pressed.

That does make sense. I’m gonna dig up the schematic. I have seen similar problems in machinery dc control circuits. Thank you.

Have you changed your blinker fluid from winter viscosity to summer?

No, the Toyota dealer said it was more important to change out the winter air in the tires. Something about the density and how it could effect my gas mileage. Those bastards charged me nearly four hundred bucks, but they did put little dice on the valve stems. Do you think I paid too much? I hope I didn’t get ripped off. :anonymous:
