no don't replace them I had the original coils on my 2004 TRD going strong at 260k miles I just kept using them nothing wrong with them to replace. the TRD offroad springs are also a progressive type where they stiffen up depending on the terrain your driving on and give a nice ride on the asphalt, do yourself a favor and save money and keep the OE springs they are the best.

I am, I have the stock SR5 springs. Figured it might time to replace them. I have 175k on my truck.

Yeah man no problem. I am. I installed the last set on my truck.

I'll look into this for mine, Thanks for the advice!

The lower ball joints and perhaps the uppers need to be replaced, so I was assuming since it was all apart, the new coils would be in order, but I'd prefer to save some bucks.
    Thanks, super helpful.

Hey man, I just found your post and have a couple questions as I am looking to do the same thing. I have a 98 4x4 xtracab that needs new suspension (230k on stock) and I also don't really want a lift. I'm planning on getting 4600s all around with new leaf packs from General and am debating between the HD and regular leaf pack as well as what coils to put in the front.

How does the setup drive on the road? As in do the MOOG coils feel too stiff (as they claim to be ~100 pounds stiffer than OME coils)?

Now that it's been over a year do you wish you went the HD coils from General?

I used the Moog / 4600 set up for the front. Also 4600s on the rear, but didn't do the leafs yet. Would be interested in what you go with.

I don't have a basis of comparison other than to stock, but the Moogs do feel a little rough on uneven pavement (I do very little if any off roading). On the other hand, the handling and highway road manners are great, very smooth and responsive. I also have done the the LBJs, tie rods, rack, etc, pretty much everything except the upper ball joints, so the front end is pretty much new. I'm happy, and would say you can't go wrong with the Moogs for the price point.

Here are some links that may assist with install - I made a pretty big boo-boo assembling the coils, but was able to quickly resolve it.

No boo-boo, you just wanted a few "free" inches of lift :p

Yeah I'm really liking the Moogs price as opposed to others. My issue now is that with stock suspension (sag and all) the rear is about 1-1.5" (need to measure to be exact) higher than the front. I want to level this out but I know that when I add the new leaf pack in the rear it will raise it a touch more. So now I'm wondering if getting 5100 and OME 880s on the front is the way to go to make sure that I can level it out.

I guess I just don't want to have gone with the 4600s and Moogs on the front and realize that I need about an inch or so more in the front to level it out.

Maybe do the front first, and that may influence the leafs you buy? Are looking for lift overall? Or more carrying capacity from the new leaf springs? The Moogs didn't push the my front end that much higher - once I fixed the boo-boo :) See my after pic in the referenced post. But I see your point.

There's lots of posts here about achieving lift, the Old Man EMU springs are popular, but you're gonna shell out more bucks. Not sure how much lift you'll get in the rear from the General leaf packs. If close to stock, that would be a good solution for me. Good luck in your decision, interested to know how it works out.

Can you reuse the original top plate/hardware/etc with bilstein 4600 & moog 81104? Or do I need to replace that? I already installed 4600's in the rear (easy job and SO much better) but I'm kind of torn on whether to replace everything up front, or just have the OE springs transferred to new 4600 shocks. This is a 2003 xtra cab TRD with 190k

edit: I see the MOOG K160030 mount assembly, but not sure if that's necessary, and if i'd need a new retainer, bushing, and such

I got a new top plate, hardware, and the stem bushing & washer kit, which came from Wheeler’s Off-road. Worth the investment versus relying on the old stuff to be in decent enough shape once you pull everything apart. i’d do this even if you plan to reuse the springs.
    Good luck!

Is this everything I'd need then?

Two of these: Two of these: One of these: (Sorry, the quote seems to be acting up for me, and just takes me back a page)

e: Also, is this something I could take to a shop and have assembled? I'm comfortable with taking a strut assembly off and putting a new one on, but don't want to mess around with the spring compressor

    the good ones
That should be right on the cushions and washers.

Any shop with a spring compressor should assemble the shocks and coils for you and it shouldn't cost much, a local offroad shop did it for me for a case of beer

Turns out that the general leaf pack and 4600s gave me about 1.5in lift in the rear (my old leafs were beyond shot though). I got about 1.25in lift in the front with 5100s and 880s from Wheelers. The ride is so much better! I think I'm going to move the spring perch to the second setting on the front and that should level it out. That won't be happening for a few months though so I'll let everything settle a bit.

Hey that's great to hear. I may take a look at those leafs for my rig. Where did you end up getting them?

I'm not too sure where they came from because they were a nice Christmas gift from my family. But this link has most everything you'll need (even if it doesn't fit your truck it will give you an idea of the components you'll need).

    https://www.autoandtrucksprings.com...ear-leaf-spring-kit-complete-bt90203ck/#tab-3

Depending on how your truck looks underneath you might be able to re-use some hardware (not recommended but could be possible). Having lived in Rochester for a few years I know how hard NY winters can be with salt so I would recommend getting all new hardware. An extra $50 is well worth the piece of mind.

X2, 4600's are for stock height, so just keep your stock coils. Only replace leafs if you have specific issues also, dont replace them for no reason. I would try to find a used oem replacement for one if you only have one with issues. The 4600's also ride really nice imo.

If you ever want to lift then you may want to consider doing coils and shocks together to save money and work down the road, but you would need to use the 5100's for lift. You would also likely want to go out and get some bigger tires to compliment the lift which really adds to the cost too keep in mind!
