I did try that, but to try and hook it was nearly impossible.

I know one thing for sure, every new bottle will get that plastic seal tossed in the trash before I use the product!

The accordion part is actually pretty rigid; it seems to be mostly metal, not really rubberized. You can see the flap in this picture, it allows fuel in to the tank, its got a very weak spring on it, and I don't think it opens all the way so your cap could probably get stuck in it. . I'd say if the cap is stuck at the bend mid filler neck you could probably get it out like folks are suggesting, but if it's in the accordion or down by the flap I don't think you'll get it without removing the neck.

Another thought for you: The bed really isn't that hard to get off, it's only held on with 4 bolts, and you would only have to slid it about halfway off the frame to gain access to the gas tank and filler neck. Just unhook your tailights and unscrew the 3-4 screws securing the filler neck. I did it recently by myself and it only took 30 minutes, and that was with taking it all the way off the truck.
Once free the neck comes off really easily. Could probably fix it and have the whole thing back together in 45 minutes.

Thanks for the picture. I felt tht 'hose' and it does feel pretty rigid, like it is not really a hose but something else.

That may be my only route, I did have the bed completely off a couple years ago to replace the gasket around the fuel pump assembly. It was hard as rock thanks to age and ethanol fuel!

That's odd. I heard age and alcohol typically has the opposite effect.

Looked again at mine. it has a sharp 90 degree turn to the tank. Probably because I have the 6 foot bed with my ext. cab. So that makes any kind of pulling this thing out with a vacuum or pickup tool nearly impossible. My camera won't make the turn to see farther in towards the tank.
