Hey guys I'm new to this site, I have a 2013 Tacoma and was thinking of getting a 3" lift kit from toytec! But I'm wondering which lift use on my rear? Blocks? or Add-a-leaf? Which sits higher? And which rides better?

I'm pretty new around here as well, and had the same question when I started poking around. Consesus is AAL, as the stock leafs aren't the best to begin with, and upgrading what is actually supporting the weight will always beat a cosmetic lift. Please correct me if I'm wrong guys, but this is what I've picked up in a month or so of reading.

I ran blocks, and I've run AAL's and they are about the same, the only time I could tell a difference was when I ran a new leaf pack.

I aggree with Large...ride quality is about the same because your still using the crappy factory packs.

Highly suggest to just save your time/money and wait to upgrade to an aftermarket leaf pack. If you still want to go budget, AAL is the best option.

Remember, it only costs a little more to go first class!

Wait an extra month and get leaf packs if that's what it takes.

I went w/ an AAL ( Band-Aid) but was so aggressive AAL that it has done a great job at molding and sustaining the nice arch and it has improved ride quality..

I was going to go AAL and Eibach springs on my 5100's and was warned by several people to not go that route as the ride quality suffers. The draw is the price tag but I'm not willing to sacrifice my ride quality for another inch or so of lift. Just not worth it IMO. Some people are less sensitive to ride quality so you have to be careful of the advice you take as it's highly opinionated when it comes to this topic. Maybe you don't care about ride quality (I doubt this since you started the thread or you would have just jumped w/o posting) in which case it doesn't matter. Perhaps people who say to go for it are on the less concerned with ride quality side of the scale but I want my truck to ride good too and handle well and I'm not willing to sacrifice these for looks. If it means waiting and spending a little more money then so be it. That's just my two cents adjusted for inflation.

I put in an AAL and within a year it had sagged down to about stock height. Added a 1" block to make up the difference until i get a new leaf pack. Do it right the first time and just get a new leaf pack.
