You're not wrong though. The box I slapped together with lauan plywood and a circular saw I didn't bother to check for square.

Proof of concept. Once it fall apart I'll use my new table saw you got me and some hardwood for a real box, haha

Birch plywood actually can be pretty nice. I've built cabinet boxes out of it with good success. Dado joints can make for a very stout plywood box. Getting good quality hard wood that's wider than 8 inches is going to cost you your first born, so plywood is usually the best route for large surfaces.

If you do much work around the house a table saw is a game changer. Once I bought one I wondered why it took me so long to own one.

Well, I'm going to officially say I don't recommend Renogy products.

I have the 50A DC-DC MPPT charger for my aux electrical. The first one snapped a stud when removing the nut. Renogy wouldn't even entertain a discussion on replacing and directed me to Amazon. Fine, whatever. Amazon replaced it.

Second unit keeps going into "debug" mode which is not described or detailed in the manual in any way. The manual sucks, btw. It also frequently changes my battery chemistry selection from litihum to lead acid or flooded. Not ideal. After waiting on hold for 57 minutes their technical advisor said (paraphrase), "yeah, it's not supposed to do that."

So, I'm sending it in for them to evaluate.

Not impressed and do not recommend.

    Nope, nevermind. Fuck these guys.

I'm returning to Amazon and buying Victron components.

Stay away from Renogy, far far far away.

Oh yea. It was a bit of work getting them installed thanks to bad Chinese ebay bumper. I had to cut out the fog mounts, fab new ones, and weld them to my bumper thanks to the Chinese workers welding the fog mounts at an angle.

Had the inaugural run of them coming back from our farm Monday night. They are amazing. Definitely brighter than my crappy 08 headlights. I felt like I was driving with my light bar on. So much so that I found myself reaching for that switch when I saw an oncoming car. lol

I should note that I feel that a love/hate relationship is forming.

I've never seen so many dead bugs on the front of my truck before. At one point it sounded like I was driving behind a gravel truck.

I blame the bright ass lights attracting them.

Yea, I think all of them are that way. I ran round floods but really wanted street legal fogs again so I could get some extra light output in addition to my shitty headlights.

There was recently a post in the ebay bumper thread about the angled mount:
    upload_2020-6-4_11-54-53.jpg

China must have put the bottom of the bumper flat on the welding table and didn't realize that wasn't parallel to the ground. Hence the angle. I didn't think that would be be smart to run SAE shaped fogs pointed up like that.

p.s. I guess I should make a build thread to discuss these things.

    Whoa, that's egregious!

**EDIT: FWIW, the mounting points on my hand made American bumper weren't perfect either. I had to shim the driver side and then add a washer or two on the passenger to make them even.

I'm still amazed at the output for street legal fogs. when you factor in the price on top of it these SS3 fogs are an absolute steal.

Clean/buff your headlight lenses, might help. Get some Silverstar Ultra bulbs, too. Or do the ultimate headlight upgrade if you've got a little money burning a hole.
