After replacing blower motor and resistor everything seemed fine for about five minutes, air blowing at all levels and then my 2005 Prerunner started loosing power and the smell of burning plastic came into the cabin. Clearly I screwed something up, but curious if anyone has leads on classic mistakes when replacing these parts? Or potential problems creating when replacing these parts? My splicing job looks decent, i didn’t cross wires, but something burned up bad after a bit of time with the truck running. Any ideas help, Thanks!

I would recommend you get under and look for burned wires and connectors in the area of the resistor.

    Does the fan still run?

The truck started losing power? Or, the fan started losing power?

Check to see where the magic smoke has escaped from the electronics, that will tell you where you’re problem is.
