I'm having an intermittent, I'm talking twice a year with the blower motor not blowing any air. Mainly when I'm using the ac. If I let sit it will come back on. It happened today and now it's working again. I took the blower motor out and it seems to be working fine. Can these blower resistors go out and then work again?

This happens on every speed selection. We're is the HTR fuse located? Tring to make sure that a connection isn't loose or something.

    Thanks

Could be the switch in the dash or the blower resistors are bad but not likely..

Check the connection at the blower mine had melted made a mess out of it..

I did check the blower motor and every thing looks brand new and the connection looks fine.

Haven't checked that. How do you pull it apart?

Look for a write up on changing the radio to make sure.

BUt pull the knobs off.. Lift the panel where the knobs are which will expose two screws. remove those.. Remove the trim piece by pulling top to bottom slowly.. remove the wire to the flasher switch.. After all that is out of the way.. There are two more screws holding the dash peice where the switch is at on. remove those two screws.. Remove the switch to test it... With that as a pot switch if my memory is correct..

I have a 95 but they should be same for taking dash apart minus i have older style controls where you have the turn knobs ones..

If your going that far i would just replace the switch they really dont cost that much and keeps you from go back in there when it does fail.

    none yet
I seem to have the same issue...( just posted )
I haven't started looking under the hood, yet but my switch seems to work until the fan stops functioning.
I have seen post about relay problems on 2005 but not 2001...
My first thought was fuse but it started working again....

If you wanna get the panel all the way off I think you gotta take the very bottom of the center console off first (the part in front of the shifter with the outlets in it) and pull the ash tray before the whole thing will come out. Also you'll have to disconnect the airbag switch (If you have one?) THEN it should come all the way out.

Ok so I have the same problem, I have nailed it down to the connector that goes into the back of the fan control switch, the fan works on 3 setting and then sometimes one one setting, so I need a new wiring harness connector that goes into the back of the fan switch.
Where can I get a new one from? Toyota does not sell just the male wire connector that goes into the switch, you have to buy the whole wire harness, anyone know where this part can be bought, 1997 tacoma
