No more autozone blower motor for me, they apparently couldn't find any to replace the one they sent back so I'm getting my money back.

That is probably due to Toyota using the same motor as Autozone sells.:)

Took mine in for maintenance yesterday, had the TSB in hand. I asked the service writer about checking out my fan. Mine can be described more accurately as a whine instead of a chirp or squeak on low, but it is also heard, although less loudly, on medium. When you turn the fan from medium to low, it is most evident.

Service writer had to check with the warranty company to see if it was covered, will find out on Monday. Meanwhile, they said they had at least 10 waiting to be replaced due to backordered fan motors. So time will tell whether mine will be covered under extended warranty, and if the dealer will get in backordered motors if it is covered.

If you have the Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty, the blower motor should be covered.

Well dealership says the new blower motor for me is on back order and will take 8 weeks to get here. Today I took the motor out and sprayed WD-40 in the center hole until it was full and let it seep in till it was gone. Did this 10 times. Reassembled everything and it is quiet as a mouse now, guess we will see how long it lasts. Was also thinking about using 3 in 1 oil as well, except I don't have any right now.

I'm still waiting on my (warranty) motor to arrive. The fan is now louder than the radio at normal listening level, and has progressed into the third fan setting. Woohoo!

How's that WD40 smell in your cab?

I thought about doing the same but know the oil smell will be worse than the sound. Mine is pretty bad but I'm on back-order as well.

Unfortunately you probably just screwed up that motor. Should have read the first few pages of this thread. WD40 is the absolutely worst thing you could have sprayed in there.

The WD40 will dry to a sticky snot like shit in a few weeks and the motor will be done. I'd take it back out spray brake clean into it to wash out that shit WD40 out and put proper oil in before that happens. Let the brake clean totally dry out before you put the proper oil back in.

SAE 30 weight oil is the proper lube. Almost the same exact shit you already have in the truck. Synthetic will also work just fine. A few drops is all that is needed, try to get it to soak into the felt that is on the outside of that bushing. Can't see it but just know it's there.

Use the WD40 for killing bugs in the garbage can. Bout the only thing it's good for. Disagree? Spray a little WD40 in the cap and hide it somewhere for two weeks where it is warn. Stick your finger in the cap and feel it after two weeks. Bet it's the last can you buy.

I agree for long term applications. Rumor is you can use the stuff as fish attractant on your flies and lures. I do hose down my yard tools with it to help reduce rust. I had a buddy bring over a semi-auto shotgun that he drenched in the stuff. That baby was a total gooey mess. I had to disassemble everything and clean the crap out of it. I re-lubed it properly with synthetic gun oil. What a mess.

Back on subject: I will probably attempt to fix my chirp-o-matic fan using this method and see how long it last. I really wish I could find a way to mount a couple of sealed ball bearings into the housing. Has anyone took a micrometer to the motor shaft and purchased bearings for it?

was at the dealer for service and mentioned mine chirps on low. The NEW? fix is a felt wrap kit that is on nationwide backorder vs. fan replacement, at least according to my service guy, who has been excellent on the tsb's so far. We'll see if the felt wrap hides the noise, which will be fine by me if it does. I'll post results if it ever gets here.

future plan of 2" drop and any type of rim thats not a steelie. grille and BHLM mods, maybe....

same here...11k miles on the truck. LOVE THE TRUCK SOOOOOOO MUCH, so much nicer then my GMC Canyon 4x2. mine chirps, but i dont want to tie the truck up for just that issue. i have a few other quirks i have to write down before going in....best part, my wife needs a new car soon, so im looking at the Corolla or Yaris (she commutes) so if they give me ONE bit of crap, my salesman will hear it :)

might bring it in before i drive from NJ to NC in 2 months so i can use their "loaner" car and not clock on the miles.

Good luck guys. I got a new motor and 3 weeks later the chirping from the new one is 2x as loud as from the old one. Toyota needs to get their sh*t togethor and stop throwing money at the same problem with no real solution.

How can you replace a know problem part with the same part and expect a different result ? Don't make no sense. Makes you wonder about people running the company don't it ?

i have an 07 w/ 38k miles that has the squeak on low.

i've read through all 11 pages, but am not clear on what the solution is (new motor? oil/grease parts? something else?).

could someone who has successfully fixed this issue please post the solution that worked for them? thanks!!

I took mine apart today, the upper bushing was dry, lower had some oil on it. They both now have multi-purpose Valvoline grease on them. It is quiet again. Took me about 30 minutes, and one beer. Time will tell how long this will last.
