Mine was replaced yesterday at the dealership. I asked the service guy if the new one was the new design blower or just the same model they just took out. He said it was the new but I don't think he really knows. Time will tell.

My 07 Tacoma has this issue and it's been driving me crazy! After reading this thread, I took the motor apart this evening and lubed all the moving parts. This seems to have solved the issue on all speeds except low, where I can still hear a faint squeek, but it's much better than before. We'll see how long the fix lasts!

I have an '11 Tacoma with 2000 miles and my blower have been noisy for the past two or three weeks. It sounds more like a ticking sound, not as much of a squeek, but I assume it is part of the same process since it is clearly coming from the blower. I called the dealership yesterday hoping to get the part ordered without wasting a day having them diagnose it just to tell me that they need to order the part. They said the TSB does not include the '11 model year and they would need to see the truck first. Irritating.

The newest part number is 4042....4041 according to the shop guy is the one surrounded by foam? He said it basically just masks the noise.

After two days and approx 5 hours total in the dealership I just got my new fan assembly installed. Part number for the blower is the following:

TOY 8710304042 Desc MOTOR SUB-ASSY, BLOW

We'll see if the squeeking comes back in this model....it took me two tries at the dealership because they kept finding leaves and blaming that on the noise. The floor manager came out, listened to the sound for 5 sec, and said install a new blower :D

Apparently the 4042 is so new that they don't even have a TSB for it yet...the shop guy had to call corp and ask them the install procedure for it because they have a mounting assembly for 4040 / 4041? That's as deep as I got into the issue apparently the newest version doesn't use that assembly and doesn't use the foam so maybe they actually fixed the problem with a completely new blower.

anyone got a picture on how to remove the motor? I guess my blower is due for lube too but I have not idea on how to get to it

My blower dies out once every few days so I always open the filter part and give it a crank and Turn it on and it works again...

This is the TSB: T-SB-0380-09.pdf. It shows the dealer how to remove the fan.

Just finished this and it's a lot better than it was. That post with the fan rebalancing from TN corrected the chirp but I still had a rubbing noise. I tore down the motor and found a bunch of crap in the bottom metal motor housing. A quick clean with some carb cleaner and some motorcycle chain and cable lube and it's good as new! Great write-up, definitely a much needed fix!

I just got mine changed 2 weeks ago, just to get the squeak back 2 weeks later. They may have not only have newly designed fan assy in the pipeline so I might have got an old model

Anyway, just lubrificated the lower bearing today, took about 30 minutes to take the fan assy off the truck, grease, and re-install. Didn't take the plastic fan off since it seems pretty stuck on, but I hope that it was the lower bearing doing the noise.
