Got the insulation kit installed by the dealer yesterday. when he told me there was a TSB on it...I knew it was a recurring issue so I thought I'd check in here....sure enough.

Anyway, the insulation kit did nothing and the squeaking/chirping was back in full before I made it to work that day.

I need to check to see which number I have but I'll probably be pulling it apart and greasing it to death...perhaps jamming that washer under the shaft.

Went in again today with it chirping. Same manager came out (who admits he has bad hearing), and while i can very much hear a canary under the dash, he says up and down, once again, that he cannot.
Then turns to me and says "well, we will replace it if you want, but you have to promise that this will fix your issues" So telling me that i have to promise that if he puts a new one in, it will fix it. Says that my new 2011 was built after the "replacement part" was already on the production run.
starting to drive me insane, dealing wht that, and the dealer.

Had the blower motor looked at today (during my first oil change today) and the service advisor said they were going to put in the insulation kit but that would only mask the sound and not fix the problem. Apparently they are working on a newly designed blower motor and will call me when it's in.

I added some 3-in-1 oil to the shaft and bearings 5000 miles ago and no squeak so far.:D

I understand most you guys would enjoy DIY, and someone mentioned the dealer fix will just start squeaking again………

But I had mine replaced at the dealer 3 months ago, they said it was a newly designed blower motor assembly. 3 months and so far no squeaks. they also said it included some sort of insulation kit... not sure what that meant.

you should call ahead to be sure they have stock on the assembly, i lucked out.

First time I ever brought a vechicle to a dealer for service in my life.

Just a heads up - it’s a free warranty service for most of you.

Took the truck in today to have the 3rd or 4th attempt made on addressing the chirp noise. I got a call today at the end of the day saying that Toyota would not cover the cost of repairing the blower motor again because I have the most up to date part. My service guy said he went ahead and is going to get the insulation fix done tomorrow on the car at no cost to me (thanks....). Essentially he said that they believe the issue is not the blower motor now and that because I am out of warranty, there isnt much they can do.
I purchased the platinum warranty program from Toyota. Last time I check, just about everything is covered on that plan. So if it isnt the blower motor, what is it? And if its not the blower motor, why continue to throw parts on that address that initial issue that was supposed to be repaired with a blower motor? Toyota NA may be getting a call if this issue does not get taken care of soon.

My 2010 with 13K on it has been chirping for the last couple of months, slowly driving me crazy at times. Found this thread a week ago, and read every page. Stopped by the dealer yesterday to talk about it, and it turns out they had the new motor and insulation kit in stock, and were aware of the ongoing problems people are having. In fact, the service adviser has a 2011 and his is starting to chirp also, and he was also aware of the felt washer issue that's been mentioned. Said they had done a few replacements and hadn't heard of them failing again. No problems getting mine replaced he said. So this morning they put them in (took 2 hours), and so far it is dead silent, and hopefully it will stay that way. I had told him I'll be back for another warranty replacement if the problem comes back again. I also told him I'd like to do some experimenting with fixing the problem, and asked if I could keep the bad motor, but he said because it was a warranty replacement, they had to send the motor in. I might still try to get one at the junk yard and play around with it, if it's cheap enough.

Update on mine. They did end up replacing the blower motor and installed the insulation kit. We will see how long it last until I have to battle with Toyota on the issue.

TYC fan works. Installed mine in the middle of winter and it hasn't chirped since. The TYC fan has a different design (brushless?). It has a slight whine and isn't as quiet as the OEM fan when new.

I used BelraySyn, waterproof wheel bearing grease, its clear high end motorcycle/sled/Watercraft grease, i use it on everything, something thick to stay there longer is what i would recomend and good at low temps. just not something that is dark in color, like cheap wheel bearing grease may be messy

Well my truck is back in the shop for the blower motor. I have wondered about why my brakes always squeaked...well it turns out my rotors are glazed. The dealer is taking care of it...The truck only has 3k miles on it.

Well dealer couldn't duplicate the sound and turns out my brakes aren't glazed...so bottom line...no truck for 6 hours is all I got.

New blower motor installed today but not the insulation kit. We'll see how it goes. No idea on the model as the power went out 3-4 times so their computers were down.

I had the regional rep for the east coast check out my truck on Friday.

We're on motor number 2 with the insulation kit and it's as loud as ever.

The regional rep said that my truck is operating as designed. That there is no fix because there is no problem.

The Toyota corporate case manager regurgitated the same drivel.

I've owned 8 toyotas over the past 12 years.

My taco will be getting traded in this evening.

I'll never spend another dime owning any Toyota ever again. I wouldn't even drive one for free.

I'll be moving to a company that has always taken care of me, with a superior product that is designed properly.

    Toyota can kiss my ass.

Throwing the baby out with the bath water aren't you? Believe me, the squeak is insane and I am a VW fan by nature but trashing Toyota over something like this is a tad silly.

My insulation kit has failed to yield any results. I will be pulling the fan assembly out and getting crazy with the lube until I isolate and dessimate the issue.

Aside from this prob, I love the truck.

Oh, anybody want some Infinity Reference 6x9's? 6 months old and perfect.:)

When the manufacturer states that there is no problem and refuses to address the issue, it reeks of poor customer service. I personally do not want to support a business that takes that stance.

Toyota knows there is a problem or they would not have put effort into correcting the condition, nor would a tsb be issued.

Simply waving their hand at a known problem and saying it isn't real is not going to make it magically better.

The motor on my TYC fan is not brushless, just a sealed motor housing. You can hear the motor on low speed, but I think that it was similar to OEM.

The blower assembly is pretty exposed in the cockpit, so its easier to hear noises that come from that area. Maybe some touch-n-foam non-expanding insulation inside the plastic housing would work?

I would take the stock insulation kit that comes with the new fan (that fail) and modify it to fit the TYC fan.
