I have used good old fashioned 3-in-1 oil and so far after 5K no squeaks.

    Around.
    Vehicle:
'11 DC OR Timberland Mica. 6 speed.
Leer 100xr with adventure package, duratrack's, weathertech's, demello sliders, billie 5100's all around, URD short shifter, Diff breather mod. Hiese lightbar. Grillcraft grill. PIAA 520 severere weather driving lights. Other random stuff as well.
Learned something very interesting today while at the dealer getting my 5100's installed, and the blower looked at.
The dealer got ahold of Toyota, who admitted that yes, they have been using the same company to make the blower, and yes, even the new ones, in brand new trucks that are meant to not have this issue, are having this issue.
Per toyota corporate, they are totally re-designing the entire system right now (beyond the updated one, and the muffler foam or whatever it is), and that should be available soon.
Something to look forward to for those of us who are suffering from this.

Yeah, I was hoping someone would post a pic of that so I could see what it looks like and maybe duplicate it, or make it better.

Took mine to the dealer today and they are ordering the blower motor and insulation kit. Toyota said it will take a couple of weeks to get parts in becasue they have had to order so many of them. Hope it works!

Just curious. Has anyone considered a gen 1 blower motor ? I never had a problem with mine and had 135,000 on it when the frame disintegrated.

Interesting. Did you take the fan apart? Any photos? :)

I don't mind the slight whine.

I had an 01 DC PreRunner with 95,000 before trading her in. She started chirping around 60,000 but though it was just leaves and never thought to follow up on it. Within 5,000 miles on my 2010 it began chirping and realized quickly that the 01 had the same problems as the 2010.

OK, but there is a difference between 60,000 and 5,000 - right ? Even more of a difference between 5,000 and 135,000 - right ? 5,000 isn't even a OCI for a lot of people on here. Thanks for the reply.

I went to the Toyota dealer back in January to get this issue resoloved, and they told me it needed a new blower motor, unfortunately that blower motor was on national backorder for months. Fast forward to last week and I get a call saying my blower motor is in, so I take it to the dealership to get repaired, as soon I went back to pick up my truck they told me they misdiagnosed my chirping sound and was going to remove the new blower motor they had just installed minutes before to do the insulation of the housing. I left in disgust after they took out the new blower motor and put the old one back in...they wouldn't budge on putting the new blower back and was bent on insulating the housing the following day.

Ridiculous ! If we can buy a blower motor on Amazon for $40 Toyota probably gets them for $20 or less. What do they pay their mechanics $2 a hour ? It cost them more in labor then the motor is worth and you wind up mad with the same POS motor. I don't get this one.

    True dat.

My only argument was that it sounds (no punn intended) like Toyota found a cheaper way to make the same product...which already had a faulty design.

Call dealer and ask for Toyota's Direct Customers Service number. Tell them your problem and that you are a "VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER" They have been extremely helpful once they discover you are unsatisfied. It took me going to the customer service manager to make it right, but they did so (grammar correction by george3 ;)) willingly.

Well....My chirping came back after using the oil to try to stop it. I said Fuck it, and had the dealer give me another one.

    My update.

I had mine replaced early last summer. It only chirped when the A/C was on for about an hour or more. Once this past winter when the temperature got into single digits I thought I heard it again but it was very faint. If the replacement one starts chirping this coming summer I'll do the lube treatment and not get another faulty one at the dealer. I'm sitting at 21K miles.

I really wish someone would manufacture an aftermarket one with real ball bearings instead of race bearings. I'd pay $200+ for one.

    ^This^

....or, I'm sure someone on here can find an aftermarket motor somewhere that would fit w/o too much hassle...am I up to it:confused:

I was thinking back to my RC car days, but modern brushless motors of the size we need are f'in expensive....I am looking at the $40 pedestal fan in my office right now...on high...can't hear a damn thing other than wind:rolleyes:
