Must be, mine just started making noise again also...

I guess it's time to tear down, clean out and regrease the motor again

It must have something to do with heat going through the system. It doesn't make a sound in the summer with the AC blasting, yet it sounds like a tank full of gerbil squeaking with heat on low in the winter. Squeak free so far since I got an "updated" version last Feb.

It's gotta be. I just got mine replaced at the beginning of Sept. and had the heat on yesterday and it started squeaking again.

I think it's the opposite, the colder temps. Mine just started doing it again and it was replaced last Feb/March. It could be dissimilar metals that expand/contract at different rates and show their ugly heads when the cooler temps come. Not sure, just a guess! Either way, mine will be going in for #2 soon...I'll wait til it happens on the 2nd setting before I get it replaced.

I took apart mine after it initially started squeeking and I used some mobil 1 synthtic grease on the mating surfaces following the instructions on this thread. After about 4 months, the squeek came back.

After taking it apart recently I found that the grease was really not the right stuff to use. It gums up and is really too "sticky" for this application.

I had some Loctite Silver Grade Anti-seize on hand and decided that i'd try it out and see if it made a difference. So far so good, it's been squeek free for several months now.

My fan was chirping so I pulled apart the whole fan and greased it, but no it wont free spin. Any ideas why? If I try using it, it blows the 50 A fuse. I know it should free spin but its like the magnents are holding it still.
    Any Ideas?

I took my entire motor and fan apart to clean/lube to get rid of the squeek, and when i put it back together and turned it on it blew the fuse. Took it back apart and found the fan wouldn't free spin. Once I loosened off the two screws on the end bell the fan would spin freely. I put a little lock tite on the bolts to keep them from turning, as they were not tight on the lock washer. Also when I was putting the plastic peice with the 4 bolts on over the end bell if I tightened it too much it stopped the fan from spinning freely.

Hope this helps anyone who is having the same problem.

T-SB-0162-11 is the TSB number. I'm sure if you wanted the actual part number, you could call Toyota and they would be able to give it to you of you're out of warranty and wanted to buy and install it yourself...

I hope this TSB actually fixes this.

My 2011 started to rattle around 10,000 miles. Finally had it replaced with the newer MOTOR SUB ASSY: 8710304043. Morgan (dealership mechanic) at first informed me that the '11 model has the newer assembly and the older assembly with the issues was in the 05-09 models. After he searched Toyota's maintenance and service bulletin POI's (if I recall what he said correctly) he found out that these issues have been extended through the '11 model yr. Per Morgan, 05-11 assemblies 8710304040 - 8710304042 have different hardware connecting the fan to the motor which includes a compression spring and the 8710304043 has a bolt connecting the fan to the motor. Hopefully Morgan is correct and this will resolve the rattling issues I was having because it was driving me nuts.

In my 2011, the fan started ticking around 3000 miles, so I had it replaced the second week of Sept. (last month). I'm now around 12k miles and one day 2 weeks ago, it started lightly ticking again, but I haven't heard it since. Strange.

2011 with 5000 miles and mine started ticking at low fan speeds!! WTF! This is ridiculous! I'm taking it in for the first oil change today and I'm going to mention this as well. It seems to coincide with cooler air temps from reading all the posts in this thread. Mine started the first week of cool weather.

Out of all these problems only one person has tried the aftermarket fan that i posted the link too? I was hoping that was a $40 fix to this ongoing problem!?!?

My 2011 starting chirping on low around 3k and by 7k was doing on both mediums, I just took it apart and greased the bearing, I never bothered complaining to Toyota since every blower seems to do it... I can't hear a thing now, but I just did it this afternoon.

I can't believe I never saw this post. I don't even remember what I did to fix it. I think I kept hitting the damn thing and/or I turned up the radio a little louder than usual. Either way, it's not doing it now. If it starts up again, I'll know what to do.
REP PTS to the OP (better late than never).
