You have a 2010. It's under warranty - tell the dealer to put this one in:

I just took my 09 in and they replaced the motor under the current TSB. Took less than an hour in and out. Couldn't ask for better service.

Dont worry about fixing it yourself...From the techs comments they are fixing a shit ton of them.. They are the ones that kept using a shitty motor since 2005...Make them fix it. I didint even have to bust out my notes about the TSB or new part number. as soon as I said the motor makes noise, he cut me off and said we will replace it and its the latest and greatest...I double check to make sure it was the new part number...they have are some sneaky SOB's

Had mne replaced under warranty last week. Service guy said this is the 4th generation motor to fix this problem couldn't guarantee this is the motor that stays quiet.

Had my blower motor replaced this morning for the fourth time since I got my '09. 30,000 Km out of warranty, but they did it free as a gesture of good faith. Last time was a year ago, just before the warranty ran out. As soon as they stop replacing it for free, I'm going to attempt this fix.

The fix you are referring to is only temporary. I did it myself a few months ago and the clicking/chirping came back. I had my motor replaced this morning under the latest TSB and all is quiet....for now.

Yes, this is one of the edges that I filled. I filed the front and back side of both brushes so 4 edges all together and so far it has been quiet for around 5-6 months

    thanks

So I am not a lawyer or know how this works, but is there any past evidence of a class action suit being brought against a car manufacturer for something like this. In this case they have recognized through the TSB that there is a "problem" but they are not willing to correct it unless you are under warranty, typically.

Maybe there is a lawyer somewhere on this website that can provide info. I do realize I look like the typical lawsuit happy American but that is not the case. I feel if there hand was forced they may be more willing to help out here and one person complaining at a local service center doesn't seem to be making a difference.

It's a shame that they don't just go back to the one they were using years ago B 4 all this B S started but I guess it's cheaper to replace thousand of these then to solve the problem. It's a shame that they won't do anything w/o a lawyer forcing them to.

It sad but funny...My 2006 had the same problem, they fixed it, 3months later it was doing it again...my 2009 did it.. .they replaced it, a few months later it did it again... my 2011 with only 8,000 miles on it did it...and now, how many years later they think they finally got it figured out... I love tacomas but shit.....

Amazing, this blower noise on low speed was an issue with an `06, and my`11 has the same problem 5 months old and 7,000 miles. There are several dislikes with this new Tacoma, hope they get with the program.

Have a 2010. I bought it from a dealership, where the first owner traded it in. On the car fax I saw where he was had the blower motor replaced in 2010. I called the local dealership and they told me to bring it in and they would replace it. Hopefully I get one of the better motors. So annoying.
