It's funny how my 09 NEVER had this issue in 3.5yrs (60K miles)

But my 2010 has done this since I got it with 19k mi , on any fan speed setting it sqeeks , on hi it just sqeeks faster

So far so good. Fan comes on when it should, and it's almost dead silent except on the two highest speeds.

I have the new blower installed for a few months now so I took apart the original blower last night and this is what I found. The area inside the red square is covered in copper dust, the commutator is grooved and the brushes are not equal in length. I don't think oiling it would've helped.

I had the 87103-04043 (newest fan motor) installed at the dealership about 8 months ago. I have a 2010 - the original motor started chirping about 6 months after I bought the truck - they replaced that motor with a new motor of the same part number - and that one also started chirping after about 6-7 months (both motors that chirpped got worse when the temperature got colder). Anyway, I have noticed that the 8 month old 04043 motor does make some sound that I can notice when running at the lowest speed. It is not the high pitched chirp that the original part number motors made. It is best described as a very faint, but steady, rattle/clicking sound. I have to have the truck parked, radio off, and lean down toward the glove compartment to really hear it. Even driving with the radio off it is really too faint to pick up much over normal road noise. With the radio on, even at low volume, it is not noticeable - and if the fan is set on anything higher than the lowest setting - you can't pick it up over the sound of the air flowing through the ducts/vents. I'm not sure that the sound hasn't always been there as I typically have the fan motor set at the second speed level. It for sure isn't anything like the chirping from the previous motors - and if it never got any more noticeable than it is now - I'd never worry or complain about it. Based on experience with the older motors I'm just keeping an ear on it to see if it gets any worse. Just wondering though if the change to the old motors was simply to mask the noise instead of eliminate it. If it masks it this well though I guess it is OK - by 6-8 months on the previous motors the chirping was nearly constant and getting intolerable. Anyone else hear anything with their -04043 replacement motors yet?

This is encouraging.. I just got my new motor in the mail yesterday.. Will put it in later..

Funny thing though, my bad one (Still in the truck) doesn't make noise with AC only heat in the winter

About 6 months now and my replacement works like new. Good thing because I'm about to it 36K miles this month sometime.

Now that people are saying they aren't getting repeat issues, I may finally go get mine fixed. Mine will chirp on 1 and 2, but 3 and 4 is no chirp. Annoys the shit out of me because my wife is always cold and lowers the AC to 1-2.

This kind of goes with my theory starting on post #454 of this thread. I just updated it and the fix is still holding.

Where are you guys ordering your blower from I checked with my local stealer they want 189.00 for a new blower. I see a bunch of them on line at different websites for around 109.00-130.00 but I haven't used any of them and don't know who is reputable. Any suggestions?

Here's a place in TX that I use. It's even cheaper at $108.81, and closer to you.

Here's also another place in CA that I sometimes use. They're the cheapest yet, at $108.07.

I usually compare several places INCLUDING SHIPPING before buying. Sometimes the place with the cheapest prices on parts ends up being more expensive than other options once shipping is factored in. Good luck!

Well I went to the dealer today to get a oil filter and while I was doing that the guy I talked to about the blower came up and ask if I was there to get it. I told him no you had your chance but you wanted 189.00 dollars even though it has a MSRP of 145.00. He then told me that he would sell it to me for 145.00 I told him I wasn't interested as I had already decided to order it online for 109.00 then he asked me to show him so I pulled out my phone and showed him this form after reading it he told me he would match it after shipping and he had 8 in stock. I couldn't turn it down and ended up buying it for 129.00:) thanks guys ya'll helped me a lot on this one. Oh and it's quiet as a mouse and works with out me having to slap it to get it going!!!
