Just pulled mine apart and greased. Got rid of the chirp but still has some click. May just be the sound of the brushes at this point.

How much are they asking for the -043 p.n. blower motor? This thing is driving me nuts! I just may have to go pick one up. I wish I was still in warantee.

I am fnally getting around to this tonight. What is the preferred lubricant to "kill the canary" in the blower motor once and for all.....
    a) White Lithium Grease
    b) 10w30 Oil

    Thanks

I feel like I have a new truck. Such a different experience without the cricket noise. Long overdue. Thanks OP for original post...

    Helpful tips:
#1: I stripped one of the "two" screws in the attached picture pretty easily. I replaced them both with 1 inch M4-.7 screws that had a beefier philips head. If anyone else reads this, it may be worth doing in case this needs to be accessed 1x/2x a year to maintain. You need to have them pretty tight to prevent any wobbling/ticking of the fan.

#2: I used a hair dryer to warm up the middle of the plastic fan blades where the shaft attaches. Then slowly worked it off by wedging 2 sockets under 1 side of the fan and using the back of the hammer to pull up on the other.

#3: As somene else said, be careful when removing the magnets because they are spring loaded. Do it slowly and keep an eye on those suckers.

#4: I used Blaster White Lithium Grease with the spray straw and a little help from some q-tips to lube the top and bottom bearings.

#5: Cabin air filter was filled with dust/dirt/leaves/etc so I gave that a good cleaning temporarily until I can grab a new one.

Night and day difference with the heat on last night in 16F weather. And no longer have to use the radio to compensate for the noise. Hope this post is helpful to someone as others were for me!

Nice, that is cheaper. Pending your review, I'll probably pull the trigger on it too. I couldn't tell by the site if it's the new blower or not. It says it replaces the new part #.

Today I received and installed the new blower I ordered from AM-Autoparts for $54.45. And drumroll..... NO MORE NOISE!!!!!!

It appears this is not an OEM Toyota part so the part number is different, but I took the covers off and it does appear to be closer to the -043 set up. I ordered it Jan 29 and received it Feb 1st. Here is the link to exactly what I ordered. http://www.am-autoparts.com/Toyota/Tacoma/blower-motor/AM-39122619/375230.html?gclid=CJ6v--fppLwCFa5DMgodRgsAsA

Time will only tell how well it holds up. Here's a quick pic I snapped before the install too.

I went ahead and got this ordered. My blower is ridiculous, its almost to the point of not being able to be drowned out by the stereo lol. Hoping this fixes it! Thanks for the link!

That sounds exactly like my situation. I ran the blower all day yesterday as I ran errands and it made such a difference with the new one. Hope it fixes yours too!

Hello, been lurking on the site since I bought a Tacoma last year and finally registered today to share my frustration with my damn blower chirp!! Rather than ripping apart the fan to grease up the bushings I decided to buy a new fan and found the newer model (4043) on Amazon today for $50.00! Hope this helps some of you all. I will post a review of this particular make as soon as I receive it and install.

Guess it would help if I posted a link:

^FYI that is a Depo-brand aftermarket blower, not the Toyota 4043 unit. The Amazon listing states it's a compatible replacement for Toyota 4043. You may get the chirp in a couple of years. My TYC unit was quiet for the first two years, then it started chirping. I will replace it with OEM when it gets warm enough to work outside.

Finally got around to installing the new blower motor (-04043). Old on left, new on right. No more annoying tick! Hopefully it stays that way. Tick was driving me crazy. Installation is pretty straightforward. Doable in 20-25 mins. Hardest part was pulling the plug from the old blower. Thought I was going to break it with the amount of force I was using. So for everyone else pulling it, don't worry too much if it feels like you're using too much force.

Mine sounded pretty bad, but when I took it out I discovered that it had leaves in it and I was missing the cabin air filter. I bought a filter and cleared the debris. Chances are It wouldn't have made the sound now that it was clear, because it sounded like the leaves caused it. I went ahead and pulled it apart and lubed it anyways. It was nice and dirty, so it was a good decision. The motor is silent now, all for the price of some electronic cleaner and grease from the auto parts store. ~$10-$15

Yeah, I'm aware it's not a toyota branded blower. Just figured it's the newer version of the blower. If it does chirp in 2 years, it was only 50 bucks. I guess we'd all take that chance even with the one toyota supplies. Just trying to help out someone that may be experiencing the chirp and doesn't want to take apart the fan or mess with the dealership. This one should be designed differently than the tyc since it is meant to replace the newer version of the fan (at least that is my hope). I'll update this once I receive it on Wednesday.
