Alright, so I got my fan in today, but it was damaged in shipping. There are 8 pieces of the plastic housing/mounting hole that were broken off. I have to send it back and wait for it to get there, before they send a replacement unit. :censored:

The TSB # is T-SB-0380-09 and it is just a swap for same crappy part. FYI- If you try your dealer there is a likely 6 week back order on said part. I did read somewhere on the board that there is rumor that Toyota may be revising the TSB because of all the continuing issues...

Guys I see we have a problem with our blower motors but they are a common failure throughout. My wife's 02 grand prix has had 4 blowermotors and 3 resistors I have replaced!!! Also just replaced one on a 08 Chevy 2500 work truck and put one in the mother-Inlaws!!! o3 Lesabre. Look where there made!!!! The one I got for the Buick at Bumper to Bumper was made in CANADA for $80.00. The one I took out had the same motor as the Tacoma blowermotor in my 07.

Is the noise you guys and gals are talking about a squeaking chirp like a bird or is it a ticking noise? My 2010 has a ticking that my wife keeps complaining about. The truck is new and it seems like the brushes are still breaking in on the commutator. I'm gonna pull the motor and take the edges of the brush face down a bit to see if it clears up. I think I may put some Z max on the bushings just in case. We'll see what happens. I'm interested to see how much play there is between the can and armature too. You can usually shim the arm to keep it centered in the magnetic field so you don't have as much run out or bounce when the motor is running. I've built way too many R/C car motors.

Just took my 2010 Taco in today to have the dealership listen to my chirping and they confirmed it to be be screwed up, motor has been ordered, but on back order. My motor was chirping on the low and second lowest setting. Very annoying! Now I have to wait a month for the part to come in. Just bring your truck in before you start buying your own parts or doing your own trial and error methods. Good luck! You'd think Toyota would not have little annoying problems on a blower motor. How many years have they had to master this concept????

So replacing this blower with pretty much the same blower does not make a lot of sense to me.
anyone have an idea how to actually fix this problem like change the bushings to bearings?

So I'm heading in to my dealer tomorrow JUST for this issue. They were supposed to look at it when I got my oil changed but the service writer didn't want to write it up. Neither here nor there, but I'll post up any new info I may get. One thing I notice looking at the TSB is that the replacement motor is a different part number but I wonder why if the issue has kept on for others....

Sorry, y'all!! No news here, I just got the "your fan is going out and the part is on back order story". One thing the service writer did tell me was that Toyota usually puts a long time frame just to get people off their back. So just because the part shows as 6-8 weeks back order doesn't mean that it will come in that time.

i'm in the middle of pulling the blow motor out to clean/lube. whats the trick to pulling the wire plug out of the motor? i've tried pressing down on the tab and pulling etc. and i cant get it to budge.

my 08 has been doing this since 30000 miles (at 63000 now). and I've finally had enough.

No one? I've literally got the thing hanging by the wires. I'm sure I'm missing something small or just not putting enough into it. Just don't want to break the thing.

I got a 2010 less than 4 months old and mine sounds like a rusty hamster wheel. I was going to have the dealer replace it but after reading this i think I will just do this myself. Thanks for the info.

It's a PITA. I stuck a small flat head screw driver under the latch and wiggled the connector left and right as hard as I could over and over... eventually it comes out!

Thanks for the writeup. My chirp is gone for now. Even if it comes back this is something I wouldn't mind doing twice a year. Anything but that annoying sound.

I'm on back-order through the dealership. They have no idea how long this could take. I may rip into it like the OP and see if I can fix it myself.
