I have a 2012 Tacoma and yesterday i noticed my HVAC blower motor only spins low speed. Switching the speed to med or high has no effect. The only way i can get it to work is turn the speed switch to off then on sometimes more than once. I don't think it is the resistors because it should work on high if it were bad. I don't think it's the speed switch because high current doesn't run through the speed switch. I'm thinking its the HVAC blower relay not making good contact. Any thoughts?

I know there is a TSB out for this for the 05-11 trucks "Broken Fan Speed Control" where it does exactly what you are talking about. If you are still within warranty I would recommend a trip to the dealer.

The TSB for the 05-11 trucks is T-SB-0149-11. Maybe that can give you a good direction to go.

Seems there have been quite a few threads like this lately. I would first check the cabin air filter and the squirrel cage in that area. Lots of yack about that already. Here's the PDF for the TSB

i pulled the controller out and sure enough the main power wire going into the switch is burnt. I checked with the dealer about just getting the switch but it comes as a whole unit.$700 also can't get just the connector. If anyone has a blower switch let me know.. thanks.

Same problem this guy is having https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wire-connector-help.377189/

Unfortunately that is not my issue. I've checked the resistor. Definitely the switch.

That sucks, they might still do something for you. Looks like a loose connection from the factory.

Oh yeah I have, I used to work there. Depends on the dealer & their "service advisors". But, I know what you're saying. :)

Is that a 2 or 3 knob control or is it the whole trim style with the knobs built in?

I assume no extended warranty? I had to argue a little, but got the TSB done on my 09 about a year ago and they covered it under the extended. There's also a write up somewhere on here on doing it yourself with a matching GM/Chevy plug that was cheaper IIRC. Good luck!!!

Kevin, I just looked at mine since I was doing something else. White as undriven snow. If the blade (male end) is burnt to a crisp, go to a junk yard & redo the wiring harness.

I have a 2012. controls are different from the 2011 ebay link above. The spade terminal is in the controls and i've cleaned that up but the connector on the harness is what i'm looking for.

does anyone know where i can get these metal pins? I've ordered a used 2013 control unit. Its the same as the 2012 for $79 Thought that's a heck of a deal considering toyota quoted me $700 for it.
