Blower not working on 2022 Tacoma sr

Hi everyone, I have a 2022 Tacoma SR with 2.7L. Last week girlfriend said blower was acting funny would blow on first and last speed but this Sunday I went for a ride and after a couple minutes it went to one speed and then nothing including the a/c not turning on at all. The one odd thing is the selector knob doesn’t have the click positions anymore just freewheels from the low to high settings. I replaced the resistor think maybe I’d get lucky but to no avail. Truck is out of warranty by 4 months going to try to see if Toyota will be of some help but not going to hold my breath on it. Thanks for any light that maybe shed on this.

 

welcome, with no detent or stops, I would think it is the controller, that is sold as a whole unit. But at $600+, I would try to find a way to test. Maybe big T will help, it doesn't hurt to try.

That was my next thought that the controller is bad. Figured it wouldn’t be something simple. Ok thanks greatly appreciated!

 

Maybe check auto recyclers? I have not read a lot,,,, any failures on the manual controller.

I saw one on eBay for $125 but you have no idea what you are getting. This is a first for me on Toyotas now Chevys best to have a spare or two.

 

Given yours has obvious signs of failure, I would try a used OE for $125,,,, not sure about aftermarket.

Yeah that’s probably the way I’ll go you’d think at 20,000 miles this wouldn’t be a issue already

No ran out in January but she’s going to call and try to sweet talk.

There was a TSB for the squirrel cage breaking off the motor shaft on that. Not sure if it covers your year, though, you should check.

edit: I found it and only covered up to 2017, but it’s worth a $100 try at your dealer!

Just read your post more carefully, and it sounds like your switch is broken? I wonder if the blower motor itself is OK. Can you test it with separate wire leads going to the resistor and also to the motor?
