Anyone have any experience replacing the 140 fuse? Kind of stuck here on how to break apart the fuse box and even get to the bolts that are holding the fuse in place. All the info I’m finding is for 2nd gens and the box assembly is slightly different. Any help is appreciated!

Remove the bolts holding down the whole fuse box.
Lift the box and Remove the bottom tray.
The fuse is held in by bolts...

The fuses are in modules...they are removed from the bottom. The top edge of the box (frame) holds the modules in place. There are "spring" tabs holding each module.

You might need an assistant, to hold the box on its side as you press the tabs and push the module in. Also need to release the wire loom retainers on the fender.

Finally got the fuse switched. Took a lot longer than I’d like to admit with help. Really appreciate your help and the pics. Probably would’ve taken a lot longer without your pics. Hopefully this can help some other people too

    What caused it to blow?

What type fuse does your Tacoma use, open or closed tabs?

Battery died and took my wife's car to work. Asked my dad if he could get me a new battery and I'd replace it when I got home. He wanted to help so he pulled my battery out and swapped it but accidentally crossed the wires and tried starting the car and said he heard a loud pop and saw sparks. That's when he realized the mistake lol. He felt horrible and wanted to get it towed to Toyota but I wanted to try and fix it on my own.

Closed. Whoever designed this definitely didn't make it easy for everyday people to replace haha.

Well it's not meant to blow often...
Did you take any extra pics? I see that the box got a little mangled...at the start...

Yea, really lucky. My dads the one who taught me how to replace a battery when I was a kid so I knew it was an honest mistake. I could get it started but none of the electronics worked so I figured it couldn’t be too bad.... but damn he blew a lot of fuses lol.

Didn’t take any extra pics. Wish I would’ve now that it’s done! Box definitely doesn’t look as great as it did a week ago lol.
