I do not. But I have used a long throw polisher and personally for me they are not as forgiving.

Do you prefer the shorter throw polisher over the longer throw?

How do you like the platypus type handle/grip out front?

I'm not sure if I can get used to holding the polisher with that grip.

I have a rotary for the neglected finish.

I grip it from a few places. The grip on the neck is handy but mostly I use the knuckle on top. It’s really well balanced and doesn’t vibrate.

With the PC, 7424 I like to cup the head of the polisher with my hand. The platypus grip may get in the way, from what I'm used to.

I like to grip it similar to this, but my hand would be higher if the grip wasn't there.

I would like to try one out before I purchase one but no one I know get into detailing.

Is it due to getting into tighter areas and the option to switch to a smaller backing plate if needed?

No. Long throw polisher is more aggressive in its ability to correct paint blemishes. So for those who may worry about burning through there clear coat a shorter throw is the way to go imo.

I could be misremembering but I think I recall a someone saying that the front of the housing got very hot after extended use making it uncomfortable to grip like that. Maybe his machine wasn't greased properly, who knows.

Typically long through is good for working a large flat area. Issue in tighter or curved areas

I believe on Apex Detail, Brian mentioned there's Mobil 1 synthetic grease in the Griots polisher. I also think Brian took the temperature of the polisher while spinning.

I'm going have to re-watch the video after.
