Hello all. So a couple weeks ago I blew the tweeter in the drivers door :(. Anyway I have been reading and doing research on replacements but may be thinking to hard about this. I do have the JBL system as well. Is it possible to replace both tweeter and woofer without a crossover, like with these speakers? My understanding is the tweeter has a 5 pin connector so how would that work? Or would it be better to just do a 2 way speaker. Im keeping the factory HU (for now) and would like to keep most of the wiring factory if possible. Thank you in advance for helping.

Without replacing the head unit I wouldn't be able to wire a aftermarket AMP in correct?

Yes, you could replace BOTH without any major issues. Since I am sure the head unit/amp in the JBL have their own crossovers that send frequencies to the tweeter/woofer, you could just replace the woofer and tweeter while tapping into the factory wiring without worrying about the crossover.

I know there are ways to bypass the factory amp, which would likely be your best bet in terms of improving sound quality. However just replacing the speakers themselves would be just fine! Plenty of people have installed new speakers off of their factory amps.

If you are replacing just a tweeter I would suggest looking into a bass blocker. Is just a cap, size depending on your new tweeters low end capability.

    Any update?

My drivers side tweeter is going out and I need to replace it too.

The previous owner had the Bluetooth ringer set to the highest ringer. Damn near made me go deaf the first time I received a call.
