Well I have 8700 miles on my 2017, and my back left shock has blown. Had a weird bottom out sound, and this morning a buddy crawled under and confirmed. Fluid all over the shock.

Have to get it fixed through warrenty, wish I had the change to throw on my lift right now. I know the fox 2.0's I got will be like night and day difference.
And there is no reason it should have. I don't tow, and I have only used my bed to move pine straw and some heavy yard trash. No off-roading either other than going to my deer camp.

    It happens.

Shouldn't be a problem having it replaced under warranty. If not, you can probably buy a rear set on TW for $60.

Same thing happened to me when I got back from a trip. Drove in to dealership, they said to wait at least 3 hours for a qualified mechanic to look at the truck and determine what the problem is. It was not obvious that there was fluid all over the shock, tire, wheel well etc.

So I was looking at least four hours of my time to have the same defective shocks put on. So I left unhelpful dealer and ordered Fox replacements. Done.

Ya I rather just go ahead and throw my Fox shocks on there, but the dealership is the LAST place I would think of doing the rest of my lift as well

Any chance a blown shock can mess with the leaf pack? Any stress on it? Just a thought, I have no idea.

    No.

Your ride will get bouncier, but that's about it.

Get the dealer to replace this one first. That way you have a working backup set which you can keep or sell.

That's exactly my plan. My service handler is pretty good, he shouldn't gimme the work around to bad.

The same shocks were used on the 2nd gen sports and they blew all the damn time. Now the new sports have Hitachi's which so far seem more durable.

This is why we have warranty! :D

True! Just a pain to have to get a loaner. My apt is for Friday, and there is no way they are fast enough to let me have it for the weekend.
Loaner it is till Monday most likely.

Replacing that shock is literally a 10 minute job for a mechanic with a vehicle on the hoist. I just replaced my own (ICON) a few days ago (on the side of the road).

They can probably get the part in under a day. Give them a call today and they'll probably get you fixed up during your existing appointment.

one of my rear shock started leaking 1 month into the truck, called the dealer and they said i have to make a appt so they can verify then will order and replace when it gets in, 2 trips to the dealer sucked.

I' m hoping so. Called and left a message with my guy sayin i know what the issue is. Just tryin to get him on the phone to see if they have the part or if they would consider trying to get it before I roll up.

If I just roll up I gaurentee I'll be sitting in the tundra or the lifted Tacoma loaners they give out. Which meh, not miles on my truck till Monday if that's he way it goes down. :notsure:

Really hopin to avoid that. I have faith! This dealership has the best service rating around my area for 100 miles. It's actually the reason I got the truck and got rid of my '15 Wrangler.

Yeah when I went in I asked if I waited the 4+ hours to see if I qualify for a replacement shock, do they have the shocks in stock. I asked three times and the service tech refused to answer my question that I asked three flipping times. That is when I left.

Service dude called me back. He says they don't carry the shock, and since it's warranty they have to 'Find the cause of the problem to see what needs to be fixed'.
I said so loaner right? He said yup, the part would be ordered Friday and they would have it Monday.

He did say he would hook me up with a big loaner like a 4Runner or a tundra/ Tacoma. That'll work.
