    Hi,

2015 DC v6, 37K miles, oil changed religiously @ 3K using Toyota dino oil and filter.

Looking back I think I've noticed this before from inside the truck, caught a puff of smoke when I started it but checked it off as condensation smoke.

Been noticing a second or two of blue smoke when I start it after its been sitting a day or two, I have a remote start and I've been checking. Happened twice this week or so, after sitting three days I got a good sized puff of smoke, after sitting overnight I got just a tad. But the rest of the time it's been fine including other times when sitting over night. Always parked in the same spot, oil is filled perfectly.

    Anyone else have this?
Any ideas what this is and why it comes and goes?

I'm not happy to see this, I keep my trucks a long time, atleast I used to..

    Thanks
    D/s

That's guides or stem seals. Not good on such a low mileage engine.

Yeah, I figured that's what was causing it and I'm wondering why it's intermittent and I have no measurable oil loss between changes... Also curious if
    anyone else has had it??

    Thanks..

Wow. Sounds like valve stem seals. I can't believe that on such low mileage. My initial thought would be to try a high mileage oil and see if that helps at all. Those types of oil have additives to slightly swell seals. That would be the least cost to try first.

I guess this is rare, nobody else has spoke up as to having this issue. Been driving toyota trucks since 85, I bought the 15 instead of the 16 because it was a proven design...just my luck... The motor is still on warranty but I know they wont do anything, it's intermittent and right now there is no perceivable oil loss. but it's there and I don't like it or trust it... I own 4 Toyotas at present and they have ticked me off on one of the others so I think now might be a time to look elsewhere... Been looking at the ranger but the full sixe 150 has some nice options on the King ranch...My buddy just got one for 53.5 out the door, the Tacoma pro is 45.... not much of difference in price but the King ranch is loaded

    Thanks

Sure sounds like valve seals. I can't say how common this might be. I've only had Toyota 4 or 8 cylinder engines, never owned a V6. If you do get a new truck go with the F150, I doubt you'll regret it...

I've noticed this on my wife's van a couple of times but at the time, I decided it was because I had moved it a few hours earlier and literally only ran the thing for like 20 seconds. It was still on high idle and not warmed up at all. I figured it had a little more unspent fuel in the cylinders or something to that effect.
It never uses any oil and I've only seen it do it a time or two. Any chance you ran it for just a short period before? If you're not losing any oil as can be seen on the dipstick, I wouldn't sweat it unless it gets worse.
