Back to work. Sitting here in the parking lot....waiting for signs of daylight. Might be a while. Raining at 1" per hour rate since midnight. The sound of rain is putting me back to sleep. Besides dealing with a dog burial, not much but an oil change over the weekend.

4 days off at the end of this week. I need that. Time to do some prep work for Harlan trip.

....and miss the best dog I've ever known.

More than 20" ahead of pace for record rainfall in a year. That's cwith 3 months left in the year. We should break yearly record by end of October.

That said....on my way in just a few minutes to winch a neighbors car out of 4' of standing water.

    And it's still raining

If we don't get some dry weather soon, 'bout the only thing that's gonna eat that grain is Deer & Elk. Dippin' down to high 30's at night now.

Either a rear leaf or a shackle bolt/bushing is squeaking. LOUD squeaking.

Seems like it's moving from side to side. Or else my old ass ears aren't quite as accurate as they used to be. (Don't say it....I already know)

Eliminated squeak. Took a spray bomb of Tri-flow lube (with a straw) and started spraying between leaves, on spring/shackle bolts/bushings. Not sure which point did the trick but squeak disappeared. Should it return more care and effort will be taken to identify exactly which friction point is the culprit.

Saw a set the other day with these Teflon inserts between the springs in the spring pack. Didn't think to take a pic but they are locally made. Think that's what I'm leaning towards.

I'm leaning towards spring bushings and shackle bolts. But not sure.

Shouldn't have to grease those up once you get them on but I have seen some with grease fittings. Kinda like that idea.

I am guessing you need to replace the front bushings like me.

I also ordered greaseable bolts for the fixed mounts too for maintenance. Should be quiet after installing everything.

Friday is going to be an interesting day. Going to where my 4-wheeling days began. Way back in 1973 we had a trail near home called "Flower Gap Road". State DNR (Indiana) shut it down in 1986. Gonna go back with a state DNR Game Warden to have a look.

Then my wife and I celebrate our 16th wedding aniversary.

And THEN we drive to Lebenon Ky for "Ham Days"

You want something to occupy a Saturday?

    Try cleaning 6 bird cages.

4-1/2 hours of bird shit and feathers.

    Sounds like a Senate hearing....
