On the non JBL premium head unit.

When Bluetooth audio starts playing automatically when I start up my Tacoma, the audio is messed up. The audio plays fast for a second, then pauses, then play fast for a second, pauses, on and on.
Turning off and then turning on Bluetooth on my iPhone X resolves the issue.

Is there a fix for this?

Sounds like the ghost of steve jobs and his love for only white cords in a cryogenic battle with Malcolm X.

...and yet another iOS bug, turning off/on BT on the phone "resolves the issue".

As a side Q, how does the text messaging work with the latest and greatest? I only get the "ignore" button (no "read" option) with most messages deleted from the phone

I was a sucker and paid for the tech & jbl and don't have any of those issues. Which HU do you have? ...and have you tried pairing another phone via BT to see if you get the same results (apple/droid)?

Maybe try repairing the buletooth? I haven’t had that happen with my iPhone 8.

It’s the non jbl premium. Edited the post. Thanks.

It does it with both my iPhones (7 and X).

I have yet to figure out how to set up messaging. The stunt screen always says waiting for phone until it appears to time out.

Oh God please is there a fix for this?! Ive been dealing with this since I got mine in March 2016, TRD Sport. Happens with my iPhone 6s, audio will play for a half a second, then stop, then play really fast for a half second to catch up, then pause and continue to do so forever. Turning off the bluetooth on my phone and then turning it back on always fixes the problem I just thought it was my phone.

My iphone 6 does this once in a while on the wife's '14 highlander--I think it's an entune/IOS bug. Always works after restart.

    Try this.....

    Go to Home Screen
    Settings
    Bluetooth
    Select your phone
Hit the button that says "Device Info"
    Select "Connect Audio From"
You then have two options, Vehicle and Device.
Mine was set on "Vehicle". I changed to "Device" and it has been flawless.

Hope this helps with your issue...

This happens to me as well on my 2016 TRD Sport. I've just learned to live with it. Kind of gives you a new vibe to certain songs.

Had this happen after an IOS update. Duplicated the problem in my old Jetta. I resolved it by deleting/forgetting the connection in both the phone and truck. Reconnected everything as if it were a new connection and never had a problem since.

Mine is terrible with my phone calls. I can be on a call, through the speakers, hang up, make another call & it won’t play through the speakers. I have to switch the source on my iPhone (7+) to speaker or iphone & hold up to my ear so I can hear & talk. The HU will then, shut down, restart & pick the call back up over the speakers like everything is fine....wtf?

I have the same exact non-JBL unit, and mine does this exact same thing, about 1 in every 20 times I try to play tunes from my iPhone via BT.
