I've had my truck for 6 months or so. First 5 months, no problems. All of a sudden, I can't get through a phone call without the bluetooth connection dropping. The call itself doesn't drop, just the bluetooth connection. I have to switch to speakerphone to finish the call. Never happens with music, only during phone calls. I've tired disconnecting and re-paring my phone several times - both with and without messages/contacts sync. 2019 Tacoma and iPhone X (12.4.1). Any ideas?

Do you have quick contacts on your home screen?

I remember having issues with my bluetooth it think it was in regard to text messages not being read back but I found somewhere that stated removing contacts from the home screen fixed the issue. Give that a try. Doesn't hurt to test.

Mine just started doing the same thing. I think it is related to the iPhone upgrade to 12.4

I too recently began having this same issue. Nothing has changed in my truck but I did upgrade my iPhone 11 Pro Max OS to the latest (13.3). No issues with Bluetooth when playing podcasts, music, audio books etc but have had the Bluetooth completely disconnect my phone from the truck after about a min or so when making a call through the trucks audio system. Generally I have to restart the truck to get it to reconnect. I did have one instance where I was able to reconnect on the fly and resume listening to an audio book but most times this doesn't work. Like the previous post, I suspect the iOS update has something to do with this issue. Will see if it corrects itself with the next iPhone OS update.

I’ve tried everything I have found to try and fix this. Nothing has worked. Some of the latest iPhone OS updates have noted that they include bug fixes for Bluetooth connectivity, and I have the most current updates, but still having the same problem. Can’t complete a phone call without having to switch to iPhone speakerphone. Seems like this is an apple issue, so really hoping it gets solved soon.

I'm having the same issue in both my 18-Tacoma and 19-4Runner. I did the latest update and continue to have the same problem. I gave up and now whenever I get a call I just switch to speakerphone LOL.

I’ve had both the iPhone X with 13.3 and a brand new 11pro max. Both have worked fine and not dropped calls on 2017 entune. Couple things I’d try: completely forget phone and entune and start over with pairing. Also, try to toggle off these options in Bluetooth menu on phone.

Sorry bringing up this old thread, but yesterday my 2019 SR5 just started dropping my call from the truck and have to switch to the phone speaker. Any updates or fixes to this issue? Music works fine, never any issues and I only listen to my playlist on my IPhone 8, Some kind of Bluetooth/call issue.

Nothing has worked yet. Same issues and I’ve tried everything. I haven’t been driving very much in the last 8 weeks though...

Mine has done the same. I’ve found a fix that has worked. Forget all of your Bluetooth stuff from your phone. Put the Tacoma back and nothing else. I haven’t had problem since.

Hey guys, newbie here. I just bought my second gen 3 Tacoma last week and am having the same issue. Oddly enough, I didn’t have any issues when I first bought it. The Bluetooth started dropping on me yesterday randomly.

Since then I have updated the radio itself, put the radio in diagnostic mode and relearned the personal whatever, taken contacts off, removed and relearned the connection, and nothing has worked so far. I’d get another head unit but I’m not sure how that would work with the vehicles settings as far as door locks and all of that...

Apple just released iOS 13.5. Has anyone updated to see if it fixed their issues with Bluetooth?

I told Toyota about this months ago and they’ve said it’s a known problem (go figure, they’ve made the sale, they don’t care). I’ve tried just about everything and it still does it all of the time but doesn’t affect Bluetooth playback. If you hold the volume button (power) in for a few seconds, it restarts the radio without having to restart the truck. Ghetto fix for a new truck, but it is what it is since I don’t want an aftermarket one.

I haven’t. I use my phone for Bluetooth on like 7 different vehicles and a million devices lol. I’d rather not have to do that quite yet.

Hi Guys. I think I have great news. I was searching for an answer to this issue as well as I had no issues with my Bluetooth disconnecting for the first year plus of owning the truck. The only thing I could think of that I did differently was download the Entune app and update my radio, which is what I thought caused the issue. I found a Reddit thread about this which I'll post below, but in short, it seems to have to do with the app itself. The user said that he deleted the app off his phone and it never happened again. I just did this and tested and was on a call for over 3 minutes and it never dropped Bluetooth connection! I was lucky to make it just past a minute before. Here's the link. https://www.reddit.com/r/ToyotaTacoma/comments/hp02ut/bluetooth_disconnects_all_the_time/

I hope this works for everyone like it did for me!
