On my 2019 TRD OR with Etune radio my iPhone 16 has started to intermittently stop transmitting or disconnecting calls. After a few minutes of speaking on the phone I can't hear anything and the person on the other end can't hear me. Whats crazy is the display shows the phone is connected by nothing works. I've deleted the Tacoma from my phone as well as deleting the phone from the Tacoma and re- paired them several times, it seems to work for 5 or 10 minutes then goes out again. Has anybody else encountered this and is there a fix? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

When electronics act weird, I like to unhook the Negative battery cable for 30 minutes to see if things clear up.

You could also see if your 2019 has up to date Entune firmware.

Is your phone software up to date and have you power cycled the device recently? You could also try to forgetting the truck on your phones Bluetooth settings, and pairing it again, just to rule out your phone

I deleted the phone from the truck and the truck from the phone 3 or 4 times and the phone works perfectly on both my other cars. I think its something with the Bluetooth unit in the truck radio.

Ya I'm having the same problems. I can't fix it. Everything works except phone calls, I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I've tried everything

Do you have another phone to try? Curious if a different phone exhibits the same behavior.

In the end, you need to isolate if it's a phone issue or a head unit issue. Just my 2c

Check the update link posted above. My 2022 had an update for the Audio system, which specifically addressed iPhone.
I would wager that your iPhone had a system update that made it incompatible with your car stereo.

I’ve tried another phone and my phone work perfectly with my other two cars. I’m still under warranty and am at the dealer letting them diagnose the problem. Hopefully it’s not an unable to replicate issue. I will update later.

If it's under warranty, schedule an appointment with the dealer.

My question was from the POV of did you try to connect another phone to the truck? Meaning does the head unit sustain the connection with a different phone or does it also have intermittent drops like yours.

That proves it's not a device (phone) issue.

Probably what Barsoom and TA2016 referenced about a possible firmware update may be your answer. If you have the means to do that yourself, it may solve the problem. If not, schedule a visit with the dealer.

Update does not seem hard to do. I will do it tonight for my truck. Its Map/Navigation is up to date, but audio system needs an update.
Download the file, copy to a blank USB stick, go to the update screen, check for an update. Done!

Here are the complete Entune Firmware Update Instructions also on the link in post #2 above. I had no problem updating my Entune. See if you feel comfortable doing it yourself.

The Microphone in your truck could also be faulty.

When I went on for updates it states there are no updates for my truck and the dealer confirmed there were no updates. The dealer said my iPhone is defective. The had the phone checked at Apple, its fine and I even erased and reset the phone, still doesn't work. Dealer now won't return calls. I guess now it's time to go to was with them!!

You could try resetting the head unit to the way it came from the factory. If a physical component inside is defective a reset won’t help.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofb0n2HdMq4

You also will lose all presets and paired devices.
