What about a taco/BMW joint venture. In Line 6 cyl. twin turbo sounds good for the Taco.

    any takers?

I had a Porsche Cayenne S for several years, which was an attempt to make an SUV drive like a sports car. It drove great for an SUV, but it didn’t drive like a sports car at all. It did have extremely high maintenance costs, due to everything being rated to do 150 MPH on the track (15,000 mile tires, can’t turn the rotors - had to replace all four at 20k). No thanks.

I read some articles about the kind of testing Toyota did on BMW's motor for the new Supra, and it seems like it should work, but high strung motors (low capacity, high output) don't tend to do well with reliability. I'll be wary of a joint venture with BMW until Toyota can develop a good track record of reliability with them.

I would rather have a 4.6 from the Tundra.

I would take a inline six over a v8 in the Tacoma.

The resale of German vehicles drops in half once the warranty ends.

Would I have to get rid of the Tacoma before the warranty ends...?

Doesn't sound like a bad idea... But like others said I'd rather see an I6 or a small V8 rather than a turbo setup.

While we are dreaming, I'd rather have an LSx of some type under the hood. You can make stupid power and it's going to be more compact than the Toyota V8s since you don't have all your valve gear on top of each cylinder head.

Seeing how BMW can't make a timing chain guide right it's a terrible idea look up all their problems with the n20 motor. They think they fixed them with the n26 but it's just as bad. The engine ticks like a mad man. It sounds like it should be a truck engine.

These things don't need to be any more expensive and unreliable, so no thanks.

LS is long dead is it not?. That's tech from 20+ years ago.

LT is the newest GM V8 - out for a few years now

LS's are still awesome for swaps and can be had for fairly cheap. LS swap the world
