That's just so you can start the truck without the clutch pedal being engaged (pushed to floor). Wouldn't apply here.

Try putting it in 4lo and starting in 2nd so you get a deeper gearing than 1st in hi but wont be as bad as 1st in lo.

I recall it saying somewhere in the manual that if you're in a tricky spot and stall that you can use the starter to pull away if need be.

If you want to buy a starter, battery, and battery cables. Defiantly not made for a truck with a "heavy" boat on the back

You're correct in that aspect. Like Aussie said though, it's not meant while towing anything. That's asking for trouble.

I wasn't suggesting that he should do it with a boat on the back, I was just pointing out why he may have thought that since toyota has put it there for "tricky" situations so you can crawl out while starting the engine again. I belive they only recommend using it in 4lo while in 1st and never for normal starting operations. IMO it's kind of a silly feature since the 2016(i dont know about 2nd gens) applies the brake for a moment to prevent rolling back. Either I am too quick with the clutch or I havn't been in a hard core situation where I needed it.

I stand corrected, thanks. Must've glossed over the towing tidbit. I'll go back to the manual.

It's more for starting on an offroad obstacle so you don't roll back

Manual. Boat is 4500 lbs. But as I mentioned my incline doesn't seem near as steep. 20 degree grade roughly.

I use 4Lo, works like a charm and much easier on your clutch. I pull out a double trailer with 3 seater Sea Doos very easily with no clutch abuse
