boatloader issues

    2006 toyota tacoma trd off road
    I'm attempting to in stall a boat loader not sure how to get through the rubber on the top and behind the liner to do up the bolts
    I just took off my canopy so I could install a boat loader don't know what I'm doing!
    not sure how to bolt through the liner ?
    any ideas would be good
