We actually torched out 2 sets, the first set was a bit to long below mounting eye and would hit the shock body when tightened down. I was ready to grind a 1/4" off and he said screw it it's easier to just burn new ones a bit smaller. I'll see if I can get them from him.

Damn he's getting some serious tooling in his shop

He's got another item outside his shop that he doesn't have the ability to move without his dad bringing home a shovel or 300 series excavator. Even then it still needs to muscle it into the shop. It's a big ass steel break that will cut 4' wide sheets of 5/16. Got it form a steel place down in Seattle and they used their warehouse crane to load it on his truck. They ended up using the mini to pick one end up to put on a pipe and roll it off the trailer. It weighs like 20,000 lbs.

He's had the plasma cutter for a while now. He says he's goes through computers like crazy tho. He has to keep them separate from the plasma room otherwise the smoke and dust etc, fuck them up. He's got a lathe another break that will do 3/16 3' wide I think, and of course welders and other random shit.

 

Him and I should get together to prototype a sas kit

 

Yours or mine could be the prototype. He was the one that said let's just throw a sas under this thing instead of patching up shitty ifs.

 

Leaf sprung sas would be way easy. Just need to source up a steering box, which I think the typical cross over steering from a old school steering box would work. You can gut the whole rack and pinion steering out opening up a lot of room for hi-steer and other activities in there. Throw a front spring perch on there and find your rear shackle position from there.

 

The oil pan on these 4.0L isn't like the others. It's a freaking quart of ice cream container bolted to the bottom of the block.

 

X-runner oil pans are shallower, you'll lose a quart or so but it'll still work.
