Those older toyota v8 timing belts can be crazy, lots of different length bolts at the front of the engine.

Looks like you muscled through it though

Are you keeping the valve body from your current trans or how will you make a 12 tranny work in an 06?

the valve body looks identical as far as I can tell I haven't looked for casting numbers yet. I've already taken the SLT solenoid out of the 12 and it's directly swap into my 06. All plugs externally on the transmissions are identical.

Yes there is. I got it half way back together and realize I had used wrong bolts elsewhere as the bolts I was left with wouldn't work.

Been doing some things with the Lexus lately, d2s projector retrofit and I also picked up some coilovers. Nothing special just cheep Chinese stuff. The high dollar, $800 ones aren't exactly in the budget. @b_r_o time to get this thing slammed!

I should probably make a skid plate while I'm at it, don't need to be wacking the oil pan on anything. Probably do a engine lift also. Just put a couple washers on between the motor mount and the frame to raise it 1/2" or so.

I had a beautiful pearl white LS400, it had about 95K on it when I got it. It was a ‘99 and I’m pretty sure the 4.0 was rated at 290 hp. It was like riding on a cloud, a cloud that would haul ass when it was time to pass someone. It was a great DD for the 1st gen double cab 4x4 I had too.

Nice, I like the pearl white. I think your 99 was most likely a vvti 1uzfe, they introduced the vvti in 96? I think. For a 1991 4.0 V8, it sure does put my 06 4.0 v6 to shame in many aspects, including when hammering down to pass. I'm planning to DD my LS and park my Tacoma to do some preventive maintenance and to put my lift back on since I took it off for Toyota to swap the frame. I'm pumped to drive the LS a bit more but evenly as pumped to have my truck lifted again and fix some issues at the same time. :woot:

I might be joining in on the 90’s luxury car fun. We may have to figure out how to get our in car cellphones working.
Also, we should see who can build the fastest one.

Go on.. Do tell.... I'm listening.

If I can refine my soldering skills and find the write up again, there's a way you can get them to work with the newer cell networks.

It’s been a while since I owned the Lexus, but I think it was the first year of the 5 speed AT. Could have been a different motor, but I remember it was first year for one or the other.

edit: just googled it, mine was a 1999, the last year for the LS400. The 2000s were LS430, the 5 speed AT happened somewhere between ‘97 and ‘99.

Afaik all LS 400's only came in automatic, I'm pretty sure it was the addition of vvti that was new/recent around that time.

Dipping my toes into the Audi S6 world.

Going to look at it when my brothers back in town. I’ve already ordered $600 of go fast parts.

If I’m remembering right, it was a 4 speed vs 5 speed AT. I’m sure that the LS400 never had a stick shift option.

Ah yeah, mines definitely only a 4spd auto. Still gets 22mpg though!
