My oldest was living in Vegas when I owned the LS, coming home from there to Texas we got 30 mpg in the Lexus. I thought the gas gauge was stuck, we finally stopped in flagstaff for gas. Normal was about 20 mpg.

Got the coils in and headlights in also. Took a bit of adjusting, followed by more adjusting, and then more adjusting. Finally adjusting them to where they actually ride halfway decent for a set of $250 Chinese coilovers. Have the damping cranked all the way up and a fair amount of preload to the coils and not too bouncy like chopped coils. Might try for more once I figure out a skid plate and do the engine/trans lift so they don't hang so low.

That was a bit close for my comfort. Took the Lexus out for quick cookie session and made one complete revolution, with intent for more, when after about 3 bangs off the limiter, dead. Just quit, died, no spit and sputter just silence. Not sure where to begin at the moment, part of me thinks that the timing belt shit the bed, since the starter spins with little to no resistance and i can hear the cylinders pulsing through the exhaust system. Or it's something else I'm not thinking of.

My bro inlaw came and suicide towed me back the 5 miles to my house and all he brought was a 8' strap with a hook on only one end. Tried to get @Usethe2nd to pull me home but he big timed me and didn't answer the phone. it was probably bedtime for him.

Yeah 4am is coming quick but I'll get a better idea of what I broke tomorrow after work. I was just starting to enjoy the Lexus again. Haven't driven it in almost 2 months.

Appears the Lexus jumped time when a foreign object caused interference between the belt and the cam/crank pulley.




On another note, I just ordered a front clamshell loaded with 4.30 gears out of a 2018 tacoma and 10k miles on it, for my truck. Should be here in a week or so. Still searching for a decent 4.30 elocker.

 

Also it would be great if I could stay off of OfferUp and craigslist as I seem to have developed an addiction to Milwaukee tools.

4.30 front diff from a 2018 tacoma will be arriving Tuesday, and I just ordered the rear t4r 4.30 elocker which came out of a 99 limited. No eta on it's arrival yet. Hopefully by next Friday, then it's time for a diff swap party.

Parts are starting to stack up around here. I'll be soon installing most of the parts I've been gathering. Gears, tcase and transmission. My front brakes are due for replacement also. Calipers, rotors the whole 9yrds.

Ok all kidding aside, hopefully I'll get the Tacoma into the garage and start stripping it down tomorrow evening. Then it'll be as I get time to start pulling diffs and all that good stuff during the week after work. Got the ecgs bushing today, hopefully picking up a poly center carrier bearing for the rest drive shaft next weekend. Just need to reset the timing on my Lexus and then a little bit of musical vehicles it will be the Tacomas turn.

Last week I some how managed to get a piece of welding spatter embedded into my back left window of the slider. I was welding on my headache rack and thought I was being proactive with welding blanket spread across the roof and down the side but a piece found its way to the window and it's fubar. Soooo since I like to be the guinea pig and test things that everyone says won't work, I bought a used rear slider frame/assembly from a 2019 Tacoma with POWER rear slider. $330 shipped to my door. Should be here next weekend. No one actually told me no, which im glad because then I have to prove them wrong, but glass places and even the place I ordered the window from said "no, our computer says that item doesn't fit a 2006".


That's about it for now, until I can get under it and make some progress.




Some pr0n of the 2019 rear window I bought.

 

Power rear window from a 3rd gen came today. Some quick dimensional measurements indicate it's a go for install into my 2006. I'll know more once I get my old window out.
