Body armor 4x4 hiline bumper with wings 3rd Gen questions

what which were you able to fit with the body armor?

 

From what I have read, 1200lbs will not fit. So I purchased a 9500lbs winch. It would be interesting if anyone else has mounted a larger one.

 

Ok sweet thanks man. My buddy wants one and he has the same bumper as you but I told him not sure what winch will fit in there. How was the install of the wings? I installed it for him yesterday and damn it was a pain in the ass. The instructions didn’t make sense and I had to keep on cutting until the fitment was right. Also, did you have any gaps on the wings to the bumper? Or did it sit flush on?

 

Body Armor has done a really poor job with the instructions for the wing install. They could be so much clearer. I cut and recut and recut because the instructions suck.
I have one wing that sits really flush and the other side is just under 1/4" gap. I could remove the gap by trimming more off. I'll get to it, but really don't care to bother right now. I do like how adjustable the wings are. They have a lot of flexibility in the install.

 

Yeah for sure the instructions were horrible. It was just a point A to point B and draw a straight line. I was like this doesn’t make sense. Because I remember when I had my sso bumper, it has like 4 points so I can know where exactly to tape it. And yeah, the passenger is like 1 degree more angled up because I cut the passenger side a little bit too much so I had to adjust the wings to make it more flush and it clean

 

12k Apex synthetic rope fits perfectly.

Are you Northern guys getting much or any rust?

 

Wow i never knew these existed, i got my bumper back when is was 400.00 range. I always planned on a lil fab work to add my own side extensions, then i did it.

 

Can you guys recommend a 20” light bar. What did you use?

 

I used one from Harbor Freight and happy with it.

 

I installed a 12K Harbor Freight Apex winch with no issues, in the Body Armor Hiline bumper.

 

Me too. Very impressed with that as well. I read somewhere that the Apex comes out of the same factory as the "big name" Chinese manufactured versions. Fits in there perfectly and comes with the disconnect switch and everything needed for install.

 

what side lights did you go with?

Where did you purchase the lightbar for the side wings

 

I smacked a deer and one of the things I need will be a new bumper and the BA with wings at the top of my list.
Where do the side lights luminate? The wings look like they point the light down and outwards.
I've got DD amber fogs also so pondering if the wings get amber, white or just a filler piece depending on the functionality.

Can these wings be installled to an existing BA bumper w/o removing the OEM bumper? The instructions say to remove the grill and bumper, but it seems like if you make the cuts on the truck with bumper installed the wings would then bolt right on. Can anyone that has done the install comment?

 

Yes, we cut the existing bumper in place.
