I just bought some BA4x4 rock sliders.

The front bumper I bought has been good so I decided to try their sliders too.

    Pros:

    • They're full bolt on, no drilling.
    • The quality and the welds look good, just like the bumper I bought.
    • They seem to use nice hardware. Large 21mm head 10.9 bolts.
    • They come powder coated and the coating quality looks good.
    • The hardware is coated too.
    • Mine ended up costing about $800 after tax from Amazon.
    • Shipping was maybe 4 business days.
    • They seem a bit light for sliders. My best guess is maybe 60 to 80 lbs. each side.
    • They're strong enough that you can jack the truck up with them.
    • Website says they're made from 1.75" DOM tubing with 0.12" wall thickness.

    Cons:

    • They're sort of light for sliders. I wouldn't use them on rock crawler.
    • The instructions aren't great.. They're on BA's website, but there's not a lot of detail. If you look at other slider install instructions, you can figure it out.
    • The flat "step" sliders that I got were not available with a kick out. I really did want a kick out. Their non step version does have a kick out, but are 20 degrees and not a very good step. I wanted both.

Overall, I'm very happy so far and they fit what I was looking for.

I wanted a step that would also provide some protection and I think these do very well in that regard. While I wouldn't want to bash on them, I do believe they could take a hit or two and give you a push before you end up in your rocker panel.

These may be a good compromise of weight and strength for an overland type build.

The install went pretty well. No real shenanigans. Fit and finish seem really good, especially for the price.
I found that for the front two bolts with the long nut plate, it was easiest to wiggle it until the front bolt lined up and tightened a bit then bend/persuade the rear nut to line up while using the one long bolt that came for each side.

.12 wall is standard thickness and 60-80lbs is on par with all other sliders..

You wouldn't happen to have a direct side on pic? I've got a short wife and I'm looking to kill two birds with one stone the 25* look like they tuck too tight to be useful as a step for her. I also have an AC but I think the DCSB sliders fit same same.

    Cheers,

    Doc

I don't have one directly from the side, but here is the one from their website and it does a pretty good job of showing how high they are.
After using these for a bit I'm of the opinion that sliders don't make very good steps on a tacoma.
The cab is too short and the slider is too high. When stepping up on the slider I have to bend over to get in the truck and when stepping out on the slider, I pretty much have to jump down.
My wife who's about 5'9" and my daughter whose about 5'3" both prefer to step over them rather than step on them. Just awkward.
I'm still happy with the quality and design. Especially for what I paid.
I just wish I had gotten the other version with the upward angle and kick out.2022-Toyota-Tacoma-Revo-Steps-3_edited.jpg

I'm getting my sliders from a local vendor and going with 10* since 20+* is too tucked in IMO.

I've noticed from the various brands, just based on pictures, that some stick out, and some are more tucked into the body. To address this, I'm most likely going to have the arms fabricated 1 - 2" longer.

for my needs, the sliders will function as a step 80%, 15% for the looks and 5% off-road. :anonymous:

I found these on sale yesterday for $540 and free shipping so pulled the trigger, how are you liking them? I'm no heavy off-roader. But I wanted the added protection while still having a step and for this price for bolt-ons you can't find it anywhere. Have they held up well?

In all honesty, I haven't had to use them as sliders yet. I've found them useful as steps now that I have a roof rack, but still not so much for getting in the cab, so I guess I can't really add anything useful. I'm still quite happy with how they look and how much they weigh vs. their cost. The powder coat still looks good and I haven't noticed any bubbling or rust anywhere.... I would buy them again as I don't drive challenging trails and appreciate the insurance against the unseen/unexpected rock, tree, or tight breakover. I still think they make for a good overland type option.. For the price you got, I think you'll be pretty happy.
