IIIa plates with anti spall and plate carrier if you can handle 20-30lbs all day.

    Or soft armor.

Depends on what application and resistance you expect to encounter.

Body armor will not protect you from IED or any explosive. Only a blast suit will save you and only maybe. The blast and shockwaves produced by explosives is what shatters your internals.

Tough neighborhood. Working at Macys isn’t what it used to be.

I've worn under the shirt and above the shirt soft armor when I worked security for the Navy. I vastly preferred above the shirt. FWIW. I don't have any specific recommendations other than that.

Hmm. Thanx guys. There is a local mil surplus store that has body armor on sale for $300 in a green carrier. But my boss said it needs to be black.

Should I buy it and try to paint it or die it? Looks like new is way out the budget. But it sounds like most the other security agents dont wear armor.

Over the shirt is the way to go, pop that sucker off during lunch break and easy at the end of the day. Plus you can lighten the load on your belt by putting some items on the carrier.

Totally agree. Just dont have all the $$ right now to get top of the line.

Theres even a chance I might not need it bc I could get an undercover assignment doing counterseurveillance. But I would still have a radio and a expandable baton for protection.

My credit score isnt good at the moment been working to get it there. Plus I may have to start on the warehouse side first before making it to retail side, where the real action is.

We wear stab vests up in syrup land haha.

The stab gloves are critical up here.

I don't perceive Denver as that dangerous of a place.

    I bought this carrier https://lapolicegear.com/lapg-atlas-plate-carrier.html

And these level iv plates https://botach.com/battle-steel-level-iv-10x12-ballistic-plates-only-5-5-lbs-80-thick/

I’m licensed armed security where I work, it’s not my primary job responsibility but if a threat comes up I can grab the vest and respond as needed. This carrier and 2 plates are less than the surplus gear you mentioned. Definitely not “top of the line” but I feel comfortable with it

Dont they have to safety check them annually? I mean the military should be strict about the care. But I will take the surplus option off the table. They keep you on probation for your first 6 months. Like being a rookie lol. I might not need it until after then, especially if I'm assigned to the warehouse. Everyone says it's slow in there. Plus you have to go through the gate to get in.

Thanks right now won't be making much money but I've wanted to work in security for awhile. I had to wait for a couple years to pass the background check bc of some mistakes I made when younger lol. But if I can make Sargent then I can really make some money. Sargents have the best tactical gear in the company haha. I can have option to carry firearm if make my way hi enough
