i know everyone hates body lifts and they're bad for your truck but from i understand they're shitty because they preload the shocks and cause shocks to break and otherwise fail when off road. My question is if you installed longer shocks would that correct the issue? I've tried searching this topic and couldn't find anything

I think you have your terms confused. everyone does hate body lifts, but not for the reason you listed.

And if you are talking about spacer lifts, getting longer shocks will make everything worse, because it will allow the suspension to droop further than it was designed to do, causing the ball joints to bind.
