im not a big fan of seeing the frame on a truck. Id go with a suspension lift.

That or pay someone to do it, no problem

They make gap guards that hide the frame, but from seeing the work put into installing that thing i'd go with suspension.

He seems to have used the nerf bars to hide the frame, good idea. That said I just took the 3 inch body lift off, truck rides better and I don't have to watch the cab and box sway in opposite directions over rough roads, what everyone seems to forget is that simple engineering points to body lifts weakening the overall structure of the truck. Even using gr8 bolts doesn't stop the sway, you might not notice it but your sheetmetal does.

    Yes , way

If you are a mall crawler and will not be wheeling hard it is a cheap way to look like and off roader and not spend a bundle. And if you have 4 wheel drive you will not be changing CVs every 40K miles

Full disclosure statement: I have a suspension lift but some dont need this

a body lift shouldnt affect the CV's at all right? it just puts the body up higher. i was lookin under mine today and i figured the the body would be right on the frame but its not. and mine is stock with no body lift. but there is still about a half inch between everything. and if i was to get a body lift i would probally just get an inch, not no crazy amount. and idk i dont really see the harm in another half inch to make it 1 full inch for just a little more tire clearance right?

Laugh all you want about body lifts! I didn't like them either if over 1". I had a JK with 3" lift and 1" body and had several friends with the same setup running Rubicon and Moab. It was standard for the JK guys to run these body lifts with no problems while bouncing off rocks and crawling over stuff. I would love to have a 1" body lift with my Ultimate lift. Anything over 1" would just worry me too much! But anyway...

to all the people who said no to the body lift how many of them have you had? or is it one of those "my cousins brothers one friend had one (made for hockey pucks and 4x4 pressure treated wood) and it fell apart they are all junk" type of statements? I have had atleast 10 body lifts that I personally installed and had 0 problems, I also agree makes truck alot easier to work on

also to the guy that said put our trucks on a hill and see who rolls first ok... lets put a stock 5lug 2wd tacoma on a hill beside your 4wd on the same hill see who rolls first my bet is your because it sits higher and has higher CG but I guess that means your truck is junk because it sits higher, not because of a body lift correct?

Can someone explain to me why a 3" body and a 3" suspension are different? Answer: the suspension lift raises the entire frame as well as the body. As far as CG goes, the body lift wins. Body lift= stock suspension geometry, stock drivetrain geometry. Downsides include frame showing, shifter boot binding on the 4X4 lever, gaps in between the frame and body under the bed.

correct a truck with 6" suspension lift will roll before a truck with 3+3 combo

one thing I do always do and recommend is using the stock body washers and the supplied ones on top of them since the factory washers are slightly larger and wont pull through

in the pic of truck - cab you can see there is a tiny washer under the head of bolt, the bolt simply pulled through body which I have seen on a stock slightly rusted ford

Correct I worked the accident that that picture was taken at, the kid put the lift on with very small washers under the bolts. They pulled right through the body, the washers were barely large enough to cover the original holes to begin with...
