Hi everyone. I am currently having some troubles with a body shop. My 2015 trd sport got keyed on the fenders. I took the truck to a body shop my friend recommended. I asked a lot of questions about the process. We agreed on the work done he told me he would paint the whole fender take everything apart and blend the new paint to the door. I got the truck back and there are a lot of issues he did not paint the whole fender and masked it before the fender lip leaving a ugly rough paint line. He just painted the main area of the fender masked the rest what it looks like. He painted over the antenna and the new paint has peeled a little bit around it. I have told him to fix it and it's not what we agreed. he does not want to do it right and fix it said it wasn't a big deal. He did not put the 3m film because he said we didn't agreed but it's on the final invoice. What should I do this is my first time in this sort of problem. I also did not cheap out I paid a good amount of money. Thanks everyone and i hope you're having a great day.

Did you pay with a credit card? If so, I'd start there.

Did you involve your insurance company? If yes, let them know. They may just tell you to take it to another BS (body shop).

My pictures aren't that great but it is more noticeable in person. I did not go through insurance because my deductible was too high. I have all the paper work. I am trying to get him to fix it but he is saying it is not a big deal. IMG_20160624_202120.jpg IMG_20160624_213654.jpg

Why did you pay him if it wasn't right?

Just dispute with credit card company and then try to do it yourself

When I saw the truck at the shop i checked it over but didn't notice it. I noticed it the next day when I was working on the truck. I also have a problem with my left eye right now so that doesn't help either. He does not seem willing to fix it when I told him.

No he has a body shop but the job he did looks like it came out of a garage and not worth what I paid. Thank you asuchemist I hope so too.

Stock with a camper shell for now.
Your deductible must be crazy high because a quality paint job typically cost much more then a deductible .

The antenna area is really no big deal imho.
However, I really not sure what am I really looking at on the first picture.
To be very honest the antenna would be a real pain in the butt to remove to paint it. Also do u mind giving us a actual amount of what I pay for.

I paid 1460 for the job. The first picture is bad my apologies. In the invoice and verbal everything was supposed to come off. I wanted to do it the right away but the way he did things i feels like a back yard job. I feel I paid too much for that kind of work. That's just how I feel.

Yes you paid too much for what you got IMO.

If you paid by credit card have the card company do a charge back and you will get your money back. Next go to a quality shop and get everything in writing. Before you pay make sure the job is up to your standards.

Holy Moses! I thought my deductable was high. Even going through your insurance you would've saved money and been protected. Like the other have said, protest it via your bank/card company.

And maybe look for a different insurance company.

I appreciate you're guys opinions. Yes I admit I made mistakes but you live and learn. I have everything listed on the invoice. we agreed to do it the right way and not cheap out. If the work I had now was a cheap job then I'd be fine that's on me I know what I'm getting. Just seems unfair you work hard for your money and people try to rip you off like this.

I'd call the guy one more time and tell him that your giving him one more opportunity to make it right if not you will begin recovering your money and building a case for small claims court. Make sure to stress to him that you don't care about the money and you have all the time in the world to drag this out and make his life a living hell. I went through something similar with my last truck and never did get the problem rectified and sold it before going to court. He had 20 other cars at his shop being worked on and mine kept getting put on the back burner because it wasn't a insurance job. I'd imagine your truck got treated the same way, he quoted me the price to fix it through insurance and it was $800 more than the cash price we agreed upon. The clear coat was peeling on the bedside when I bought the truck so I couldn't claim it.
