Bogus Tacoma ad on craigslist

Please explain this more fully. I have a google voice account and I have it linked to my real cell phone. With my cell phone I can make phone calls that, to the receiver, appear to be from my GV number or my real cell number. Using the GV app I can make calls, but they always appear to be from my GV number.

Further, I *think* that to link a real phone to a GV account you have to prove physical access to the real phone (I can't remember for sure because I've had the GV account for years).

So, what I'm saying is, that this may be a scam to get phone numbers and do something nefarious with them, I don't see the avenue. Can you explain it?

Edit: I did just confirm that you have to have physical access to the linked (real) phone. They verify either by texting a 6 digit code to it or via phone call.

 

I had it happen to me I don’t know how they did it but it took me awhile to figure it out. I guess they port your phone number and start to use it in there scams.
From my understanding is they send you a text message with a phone number to call and then you call a recording tells you thank you for registering this number and hangs up.
