I do not want a hang point with the stock exhaust and the funky skids...
Is it cheaper to simply buy a CBI or other brand skid that will accommodate the stock exhaust, yes..
But I hate that. Why add an additional hang point?

Agreed, re-route and then add the flush skids. It's a silly design decision from a real world point of view. Why make the lowest point of the truck lower than the crossmember when a little effort would have eliminated the problem.

An exhaust reroute is a good idea of you drive off-road and want to put armor plates under your truck, just be sure that the new crossover pipe is far enough back away from the plastic dif actuator box as to not melt it. Weld a bolt together union to the new crossover so they can unbolt the pipe to remove it for servicing if needed. I made a shield for mine with aluminum flashing and attached it on the box with steel zip ties. You may also want to extend the existing shielding on the driver’s side further back with the same. Then to finish it all, bob the last bend just after the last hanger and put a spout tip on it.
