You think you need 4WD in the rain?

I just don't drive 10 miles in 4wd every month. If I could in the rain, then there's another chance to use the 4wd

Well you could drive in the dirt during a rain storm... it's called mud! Great time for 4WD.

Believe me I love driving in the mud. I just don't know many places in north Alabama. I recently moved here

Just but yourself a State map. All the dirt secondary roads should be marked. Hook up with some like minded locals and they can show you all the "roads" not on the map.

Perhaps it was a new guy. New members have no rep value, so ther pos rep shows as grey.

The owners manual doesn't need to spell it out... it's common knowledge that you don't engage a part-time 4wd on dry pavement. They probably just figure why would anyone even think about doing it as there's absolutly no reason to do so. Just the fact that it causes binding when making turns is proof enough. Part-time 4wd needs slippage!

You don't call someone an asshat and leave positive rep.

And another douche (Probably the same cock garage) told me to stop cursing. Which leads me to believe their neg rep is showing as ghey!

    HA! Fat fucking chance.

Anywho, it'll be fun to see these tards using 4WD on dry pavement just because they think they can try to get it warrantied. "I dunno what happpened...it says engage it for at least 10miles!"

Toyota Tacoma owner’s manual publication No. OM35A 34U page 177
H2 (high speed position two-wheel drive) normal driving
H4 (high speed position four-wheel drive) Greater traction then two wheel drive When you experience a loss of power such as wheel slipping.
L4 (low speed position four wheel drive) Driving requiring maximum power and traction such as climbing or decending steep hills, off-road driving and hard pulling in sand or mud, etc.
    Owners manual OM35A34U page 180
    Four wheel drive usage frequency.
You should drive in four wheel drive for at least 10 miles (16KM) each month. This will assure that fount-drive components are lubricated.
This is a truck not some cracker box when I see a Toyota case broken from some thing other then off road abuse then I may change my tune but experience has taught me with 4 Toyota pickups driving on the hard surface does not brake cases. Driving around in 4 wheel drive when you don’t need it is stupid but when there is any chance of going off the road on a patch of black ice if you don’t use some thing you paid big money for is just as stupid.

Black ice possible? Slow the fuck down. 4WD isn't going to save your ass enough to stop you sliding into another vehicle. Speed is the biggest factor when reducing the chances of accidents. You know...as an officer of some sort I'd figure you'd know this. You can argue this till your blue in the face, but if you were supposed to use part time 4wd on hard pavement, they'd never have invented full time 4wd.

Do you have any ideal how worthless a 4 wheel drive truck is in 2 wheel drive when it's slick? It's worse then a 2 wheel drive truck. I need to get to work in one piece so I can go investigate the accidents. Look I drive close to 60,000 miles a year there is no need for you to try to explain to me how to drive.

<-EMS - You don't have to talk to me about driving. Either. And my rig is far more susceptible to blowing wind and shitty handling than your patrol car is.
