BonnFabrications Regular Joe I need to drive this to work in the morning build.

well I realized that after all the posts ive made on here that I never made a build thread. I bought my truck in Aug 2018 and made the decision to go with a Silver Sky metallic TRD Off road. The plan is to make this a capable off-roader/overlander but still a decent daily driver. So far on the build is putting on a Dobinsons 3" MRR HD lift kit, added some SCS F5 17x8.5 wheels and BFG K02 285/75R17s to fill out the wheel wells as much as possible. The guys at BAMF gave me a great deal on a left over bumper from the fire sale they had and I modified it to fit my truck, after that I went on to design my own roof rack and finally after many months managed to get it built. Ive added a personal touch to the interior and exterior like many others by painting some of the trim inside silver to match the truck, removing the stickers and badging for a cleaner look and finally by doing the BHLM that has been well documented on here. I still have a lot that I want to do. Next on the list will be sliders, followed by a custom rear bumper and then a new front bumper to match. Onboard air and a winch will be somewhere in the mix along with a long list of other bolt on mods. possibly building a bed rack to add some more storage when I get to it. Lots of projects to do and just a matter of timing to get them all done. ill add some pictures for viewing pleasure.

Got the truck all washed up and finally got around to putting in my pro grill from Toyota pro shop and @MESO vent rings and chrome delete kit. Added some flair to myinfotainment surround. I think it all came out pretty good. Took a lot of taping but I’mhappy with it. Sorry this is picture heavy.

 

Attempt #2 at seeing how much weight the truck can carry. This time it was 6x50lb thinset, 21x54lbs boxes of tile, 1x50lb leveling compound, 2x17lbs grout which comes out to 1518lbs plus me and maybe 50lbs of other random stuff. Had about 3” drop in ride height in the rear. Still drove great. Can’t say enough about how well Dobinsons products have performed. Both on the trail and off. And huge thanks to Kyle at Treaty Oak Off road for helping get this setup. Now it’s time for some tile work. Oh and that was only half the tile. I did a second run with another 21 boxes (1134lbs). @DobinsonsUSA

 

Loving this build. I like how you tied in the retro colors and most of all how you are doing most of the work yourself if not all of it.

Hey! Truck height looks perfect! I am trying to decide on coils at the moment for the perfect settled height. What coil did you go with for the HD? 354?

 

Thanks a lot. Its been a while but from what I remember it was the heavy duty parts so the 354 spring up front and the 5+2 leaf in the back.

Awesome! how do they ride? Anything you would change after having the MRA or the 354 coils for a bit now? I am leaning towards the same at the moment.

I love the ride. I don’t have the MRAs they weren’t out yet when I got my setup. I have the MRR HD setup. And it’s been great. They MRA is something I’ve been looking at upgrading to on my setup to be able to adjust the shocks just a bit for more fine tuning.

And now begins the fun of building my own sliders/steps. Hopefully they come out the way I’m hoping them to. All 3/16” plate and 2” SQ 3/16” wall tubing. Let the fun begin.

This looks terrific. The silver trim to match the exterior is amazing with this color, makes the retro touches pop without feeling over the top. Really great job.

haha yes and no. I do like welding but I have so many projects I need to finish before I start other stuff.
