Added some killer green carpet on my dash to cover up all the cracks.

Started another layer of rustloeum sound deadener on the pass side.

    Fixed my sticky hand throttle

Added a blingy TEQ oil fill cap

New pump is in. Steering cooler is mocked up. Reservoir is placed where it should fit. I had to cut off one of the mounting points for the stock airbox to make it work. Steering box is off. Old steering stabilizer is removed. The mess is made. Got some royal purple max steer on the way from Amazon. Just need to pick up my other box in conroe. I need to figure out the low pressure feed line to the pump. Its tight. Other than that i have to finish it up if i wanna wheel.

I figured out a better mounting idea last night with a piece of 1x1 angle iron that will be mounted to the drivers side shock hoop. This added about 2 inches of clearance that was definitely needed. It will be temporarily mounted with a couple of hose clamps and welded on later. I need to take the edges off of the new bracket and throw some paint on it before install. I am waiting on 2 -10 90's to show up so i can start routing hoses.

I also ripped out all the non working AC bull˟˟˟˟ since it was in the way. I have one hose left that is being a real bitch to get off at the compressor. I am capping off all of the connections under the hood for when I want to tackle the AC re-install if that ever happens.

I started combining/untangling all the random wires and ran them the correct way away from heat sources/moving parts. I added some dielectric grease to every plug around the ignitor, main harness and other engine components.

I got the ram mounts welded to the Ballistic 1.25" tie rod clamp so that can be mocked up as well.

Got the new steering belt on. I went with one that was an inch shorter than the stock length.

Are you deployed? Or maybe vacation? I love the old yotas and the new ones. I'm amazed of the lack of knowledge( between old school and new school) of most members here on TW with the first real Toyota trucks.

I'm glad I have the best of both worlds, learning about the 1st and 2nd gen trucks, 4runners bla, bla, before I bought my 08'. I still got the 85' that's posted on marlincrawler and here on TW. 3.0<2.4 !you know what I mean.:)

I hear you on that. I started with a Tacoma way back when with a 3RZ. I have been hooked ever since. I am kinda working in a backwards progression compared to you as I had newer trucks first and then aquired my vintage one. I love this truck more than ALL my other past Toyotas and am growing more competent every day in all the aspects of working, wheeling, modifying and maintaing it. Im in the process of piecing together my parts for a 3RZ swap in the long term now. That is way down the road though.

The 3rz swap is a good one for sure. Though too much custom stuff for me, if anything I'd just put the efi power package on my '85 from LCE. Or if I had more money than I knew what to do with I would just buy one of their stroker engines:) 185+hp but not worth 6,7 k by the time your done:cool

I'm still learning about the tacos and everything I have learned has been here on TW. A lot of knowlage here as on marlincrawler, one day I hope I'll know just as much about 2nd gen tacomas as I do about 2nd gen Toyota pickups.

Nice truck dude, don't hack it up too much::::cool:

I worked on my steering cooler mount a little before I left on vacation. I used the rubber spacers that came with the cooler, 2 pieces of 1x1 angle iron and 2 tubing clamps off the A/C system that I removed.

Its a little tight behind the grill but it will work. I need to trim the back side of the grill a little. I had to flip the bracket around that goes from the lower core support to the hood latch. It bought me just enough clearance to mount the cooler.

The front or the rear one? :)

They really aren't that bad. You just have to get used to chirping the tires around curves and dealing with the torque steer which is related to the amount of throttle going down the highway.

Rear. A rear locker is next on mine, still weighing the options.

Fixed my airbox clearance issue with some LC Engineering bling

Pretty solid kit and CARB approved for those who need it.

I also stared at these a while and wished I was at a point where I could install them.

I got the OK for some PRP seats and a 4xInnovations cage due to the fact that my Tacoma is paid off as of this month. Damn I haven't been without a truck payment in a long time.

    Picked up some new fluids

Thanks. I kinda like it :)

Everything is in place to get the final hose lengths figured out, cut and made up. Then I need to connect the steering shaft, fill her up and start bleeding the air out of the system. I installed the cooler last night. Just about ready for a test run.

After messing around with this project for a while, I finally got the hydro assist wrapped up and ready to fill.

    Looks kinda tight.

    medunapa_9fcfe9f6ae94daad9cd08d5e00b4a845102b77c1.jpg

Cooler in place. The bracket for the latch support was flipped around 180 degrees to make a little needed room for the install.

    3aqyze6y_d8750bbceb6ace91eadf0e41caef928f68064752.jpg

I had to chop out a little of the front core support. I used some 3/8 fuel line to put on the sharp edges and zip tied them down. I also used some scrap hose to keep the cooler lines from getting cut.

    e2u6yqun_d7c3e46182b4595ea657cc5fe112de7217e1be14.jpg

Now I just need to fill her up and bleed the system. Hopefully that will go well.
