Going through the pre-wheeling checklist in the garage today. Gotta be ready for my next wheeling trip. It will be last one on the Toyota axles. Then the one ton swap begins. Going to be a lot if work.

Just curious why didn't you just mount a light bar off of your roll bar behind the cab

A couple reasons. The bar doesn't protrude hi enough over the cab to mount it the way I wanted. I don't like the generic mounts that come with the bar. The light would be too far back for my taste.

And rollbar lights are so 80's :)

So I finally got around to putting all of my pics together.

Started off on with a little hard luck on Thursday on JB Turnpike.

Thank god for the cage. This is the most damage I have had ever in one weekend.

Got it recovered and wheeled the rest of the weekend. I think I spent more time fixing trail damage than wheeling but that is part of it. I still had a great time.

Now it's time to do a little body work and get on with the axle swap. Lots of work ahead.

Did it roll all the way onto the roof? That light bar held up really well.

    I need a cage

Yep. All the way on its lid. Almost a full roll . The light bar still works and the mount has been straightened. The light bar did most of the damage to the roof.

Well, it took me a few days of reading a couple pages at a time, and man what a ride. I can only imagine how it was on your end. I started with a 2014 Tacoma fresh off the lot, some things happened, and now I have an 89, and this thread has given me so many ideas it's not even funny.
Well done sir and keep up the good work!

Thanks I appreciate it. Definitely has been a labor of love.
Just been doing a little body work this past week.

Heading to pick up my D60 this weekend.

I picked up my front axle over the weekend. Got it unloaded and started tearing it apart this evening. Turns out the axle has drive flanges. I removed the tie rod and pulled the axles. Looked ok. Had a couple of areas that looked like they were starting to wear a little. I also pulled the cover to verify what gearing I have which is 3.54. Now I know what gears and locker I need to pick up. Looks like the BOM# is no more. I'm pretty sure it's a chevy axle though. This is one heavy SOB. I'm picking up another set of jack stands and an engine hoist this week so I don't have to work on the ground. Then I will start burning off the all the unneeded bracketry and clean the axle up some more.

Did a little more work on the axle last night. I got the knuckles and hubs pulled off and apart. The lower kingpin trunnions need to be replaced. The king pins look good. I'm going to order the bearings and seals tomorrow. Then off the the blaster to get cleaned up after a little more trimming.

I got a good start on cleaning up all of the unneeded bracketry tonight. Just a little more grinding to go.

I ordered my Detroit for my 14B tonight as well. Should be able to drop everything off next week to get installed. Then it's on to pulling my rear axle.

How did the front glass come out? Any luck straightening the a-pillar?

    Axle's looking good.

I started the body work and am waiting for one of my buddies to bring his stud gun to work so I can borrow it. I did find a donor truck if it comes down to that.

I figured out why the passenger side hub didn't want to turn.

Time to find a spindle and order some bearings.

You can't salvage the spindle, or is it cheaper/easier to find a new one

Edit: never mind, the second picture hadn't loaded. That ones toast.
