Hood waiting to be reinstalled on truck:

Here is the added piece of 3/8 line for the IFS box:

Managed to get the header in last night as well. There was a heat shield keeping it from sliding into place. JR got that pulled off and we got the header in finger tight for now.

My only concern is that the header at the collector is slightly hitting the bellhousing of the trans. Is that going to be an issue when tightening down the header and a source of noise. Or will it eventually self clearance and not be an issue? That is why I left the header bolts finger tight for now.

Got a couple of the finishing touches done yesterday:

Installed the pass side hub assembly

Clearanced the header with a hammer and got it reinstalled and torqued down

Most importantly, we rolled old red out to see some sunshine and flexed him out to measure for bump stops.

Gonna try and start him up today. Need to charge the battery up a little, he's been sitting a while.

Bumps should be on, reinstall the hood, check a couple other misc. things and maybe I get to run him the the muffler shop today.

    Fingers crossed

Got Ol Red started up on Friday. He sounds pretty rough with just a header and I could only sit in the truck running a little while before the fumes just about killed me. It was good hearing it start though. The Odyssey Battery didnt even need to be put on the charger:)

I got the hood put back on with a little help:

    CIMG0165_ae23f423e9a113dd2a4ab0319278d248dbbd7810.jpg

    CIMG0164_4169341a6a6408cf979775700441ea8281d11e3c.jpg

Also got started on getting the bumpstops tacked into place.
Need to get the exhaust done this week sometime

The 2 tacomas are getting some SAC. There is an 85 Runner behind mine on a 60/14bolt combo. the runner next o me is the shop project truck and there is an 84 in the back corner that is getting ready for some desert racing. Full to say the least :)

Truck is ready to go. Went over last night to get the last little things taken care of:

blinkers, liscense plates, and liscense plate lights, exhaust

Only got the blinkers done: These are just temporary till I have the time to mod the running lights.

Well I got to drive Lill red yesterday for the first time in months.

The suspension/gearing feels great and steering with the IFS box is awesome.

Took the truck to the local exhaust shop:

    CIMG0178_e93ff8b386e456bbcdda3bd769772d119c061f24.jpg

Got the grille put back on, shimmed up the bed a little and
    slammed my thumb

    CIMG0179_19864ffc2d6b58b7f8bd1963e4ff6e82071af6d4.jpg

Oh well it was a good day

I do have a little leak on the exhaust manifold which probably will require a helicoil in one of the bolt holes but thats not too bad

Awesome truck! A guy sold my dad a red 87 for cheap because the paint was faded and looked like it needed new paint. After a detail the truck looked brand new. I bet that paint would look very nice after a buff.

First I got to say, super awesome truck! It is coming out really great. Could someone explain how crawlers set up like this(with the shocks at such an angle) can up have straight up and down travel(non-articulating)? Ever time I see trucks like this I wonder because it seems like the axle can only move by flexing. I'm guessing it is just simple geometry that I am missing that makes it look like that, but I'm dying to know.

Edit: Nevermind, after thinking about it, I get it now.

    Brought the truck home today!
Began the break in process of the gears. The 529's are noticeably different than the 410's on the highway.
Got a couple things X'ed off the list of stuf to do before Jambo
    Pics to come tomorrow
-Got the front driveshaft installed. Still need to grease it up
    -Installed the TG Rock Rings
-Got the liscense plate mounted and light working

Working on the exhaust manifold leak tomorrow as well as changing the fluids in the diff and trans case. Probably going with synthetic
Should be changing out the the wheels this week to the 15x10 black steelies
Gonna try and get the winch up and going too. Depends if I have time
